Despite the shipbuilding industry’s efforts to alleviate its manpower shortage by drastically simplifying the trainee selection process, the problem remains unresolved. This study aims to identify the underlying causes of the shipbuilding sector’s manpower issues. The shortage can be traced to over 20 years of increasing non-regular workers while failing to expand permanent staff, which has been a key factor contributing to the current manpower crisis. If the industry continues to postpone the hiring of permanent employees, it will be difficult to attract younger generations to the field, jeopardizing the sustainability of South Korea's shipbuilding industry. To ensure the industry's longevity, it is crucial to recruit young workers as permanent staff.

조선업계는 인력난 해소를 위해 기존의 훈련생 선발 방식을 파격적으로 간소화 하여 훈련생을 모집하고 있음에도 불구하고, 인력난을 해소에 큰 도움이 되지 못 하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 조선업계의 인력난의 배경이 무엇인지 밝히고자 한다. 조선업계의 인력난은 20여 년간 정규직을 늘이지 않고 비정규직 인원만을 충원 해 왔기 때문이며 이것이 바로 조선업계의 인력난을 야기한 요인이 된 것이다. 그 러므로 조선업계가 정규직 고용을 계속 미룬다면 젊은 세대의 조선업계로의 유입 은 기대하기 어렵고, 한국의 조선산업 또한 지속하기 어려울 것이다. 조선산업이 지속하기 위해서는 젊은 세대를 정규직으로 채용할 필요가 있다.
