The purpose of this study is to explore the identity of pre-service religion teacher students by applying the photovoice method. Before entering the pre-service religious education practicum, university students are no longer students, but as pre-service teachers, they experience psychological stress related to lesson preparation and planning, and worry about their preliminary experiences in the workplace. This is a critical time, and the process of exploring one's identity as a preservice religion teacher can provide a sense of agency in making career decisions and managing one's emotions, as well as a sense of supportive solidarity in the Christian community. For the purpose of this study, two pre-religion teacher students participated as researchers and applied the photovoice qualitative research method as a way to explore their identity narratives. The findings of this study include the following Pre-service religion teachers experience identity crisis and anxiety prior to their teaching practicum, but they are able to express their own ways of coping with the situation. They are able to discover and share their religious beliefs and inner comfort. Through participation in action research, they experience supportive relationships and communication, and through the experience of self-acceptance, they develop a forward-looking perspective. The university students who participated in the research process explored opportunities to express, share, and reconstruct their emotions through photography before leaving for their teacher training as pre-service religion teachers. The results suggest that university students who experienced relationship trauma, or bullying, during their adolescence need opportunities to reconstruct their relationship trauma experiences as they may experience traumatic reenactments when they have to return to the environment and scene of school when preparing to become pre-service religion teachers. We can also see how religious beliefs play a role in college students preparing to be religion teachers, and how relationships and communication play a role in identity discovery and also in their preparation as religion teachers. Since self-acceptance was found to be a helpful process in identity discovery and the development of future-oriented perspectives, it is concluded that the process of self-acceptance and empathy for self and others was effective for the participants in the study as they reflected on themselves in preparation for their roles as religion teachers. In conclusion, by exploring the identities of pre-service religion teachers, this study can suggest the importance and implications of having a pre-service support group prior to student teaching practicum.

본 연구의 목적은 포토보이스 방법을 적용하여 예비 종교 교사 대학생의 정체성을 탐색하는 것이다. 예비 종교 교사 실습을 나가기 전 대학생들은 더 이상 학생으로서 가 아닌 예비 교사로서 수업 계획 및 실시에 대한 스트레스를 경험하거나 직장 생활 의 예비 체험을 앞두고 고민을 하게 된다. 중요한 시기인만큼 예비 종교 교사로서 대 학생이 자신의 정체성을 탐색하는 일련의 과정은 진로에 대한 결정과 자신의 정서를 조율할 수 있는 주체의식을 경험할 뿐 아니라 기독교 공동체의 지지적 연대감까지 경 험할 수 있다. 본 연구의 목적을 위해 예비 종교 교사 대학생 2명이 연구자로 참여하 였고, 자신의 정체성 이야기를 탐색하기 위한 방법으로 포토보이스 질적 연구 방법을 적용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 예비 종교 교사로 실습을 나가기 전 정체 성 위기와 불안을 경험하지만 그 상황을 나름대로 대처하는 자신을 표현할 수 있다. 또한 자신의 종교적 신념과 내면의 위안에 대해 발견하고 공유할 수 있다. 행동 실천 적 연구 참여를 통해 지지적 관계를 경험하고 그를 통해 소통을 나누고, 자기 수용의 경험을 통해서 미래 지향적인 관점까지 함양할 수 있다. 예비 종교 교사로 교사 실습 을 나가기 전, 연구 과정에 참여한 대학생은 사진을 매개로 자신의 정서를 표현하고 공유하며 재구성할 수 있는 시간으로 자아를 탐색한다. 결과적으로 청소년 시기에 관계 외상 즉 따돌림을 경험한 대학생이 예비 종교 교사를 준비할 때 다시 학교라는 환 경과 장면으로 회귀해야하는 상황에서 트라우마가 재현되는 경험을 할 수 있는 만큼 자신의 관계 외상 경험을 스스로 재구성할 기회가 필요하다. 또한 종교 교사를 준비 하는 대학생에게 종교적 신념이 어떤 역할을 하는지 살펴볼 수 있고, 관계와 소통이 라는 것이 정체성의 발견과 또한 종교 교사로서의 준비에 어떤 역할을 하는지 살펴볼 수 있다. 자기 수용이 정체성 발견과 나아가 미래 지향적인 관점을 함양하도록 돕는 과정이 드러났으므로 종교 교사로서의 역할을 감당하기 위해 자신을 성찰하는 과정에 서 연구 참여자들은 자신과 타인에 대한 공감 능력의 발휘나 자기 수용의 과정이 효 율적이라고 판단된다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 예비 종교 교사의 정체성을 탐색함으로 써 교생 실습을 나기기 전 사전지지 모임을 가지는 것이 왜 중요하고 어떤 의미를 남 기는지 제언할 수 있다.
