The modern Korean church of the 21st century is experiencing stagnation in growth due to various factors, including the nation's political, economic, social, and cultural challenges. The Protestant Church in Korea is facing difficulties as it undergoes significant changes across the board and has entered a period of decline. One of the primary reasons for this decline is the phenomenon of young people leaving the church, which is particularly pronounced among those in their 20s and 30s. This trend is creating a sense of unease within the church as the generational connections are disrupted, casting a bleak outlook for the future vision of the church. In response, many churches are focusing on the youth, investing in them, and developing programs tailored to their preferences in an effort to address this situation. While these efforts are more positive than previous attempts, they raise fundamental questions such as: "How deeply do church leaders truly understand the struggles and conflicts that young people face during this stage of their lives, and how prepared are they to provide practical solutions?" and "Can the Korean church confidently say that the support and programs it offers will effectively halt the accelerating exodus of young people?" Considering these questions, the author believes that a fundamental approach is necessary to bring these young people back to the church, revitalize the youth ministry, and strengthen and develop the Protestant Church during this period of stagnation. It is essential to focus on the restoration and maturity of their faith through Christian education. Although Christian faith, which is inseparable from human salvation, is indeed a grace granted under God's sovereignty, it should not be treated as something that is automatically or mechanically systematized. The faith described in the Bible encompasses much more. Members of the church's youth ministry experience various events throughout their long life journey and gradually walk the path of mature faith. Therefore, the church must teach and nurture them with the Word of God, helping them establish a solid faith foundation so they can practically and realistically fulfill their role as God's people. This paper proposes a Christian educational approach to study the faith of the youth ministry, which is in decline as young people leave the church. The author aims to clarify the reality faced by church youth in Korean society while seeking to promote their faith through impactful Christian education from an educational perspective. Through this paper, it is hoped that the youth ministry of the Korean church, which is currently experiencing confusion and conflict in its faith, will be revitalized.

21세기 현대 한국교회는 국가의 정치, 경제, 사회, 문화를 포함한 여러 요인으로 인 하여 성장이 침체되어있다. 한국의 개신교는 전반적인 부분에서 많은 변화의 영향을 받으면서 어려움에 직면해 있고 쇠퇴기에 접어들었다. 이에 대한 원인은 청년들의 교 회 이탈 현상을 꼽을 수 있으며, 20-30대에서 매우 두드러지게 나타난다. 이 현상은 교회에서 이어지는 각 세대의 연결고리가 끊어지는 불안감을 조성하고 앞으로의 비전 을 암울하게 만들고 있다. 교회들은 청년들에게 관심을 가지고 대안을 마련하기 위해 청년들에게 투자하며 그들의 입맛에 맞는 프로그램을 개발하여 이 상황을 타개하기를 바라고 있다. 이러한 노력은 이전에 비하면 긍정적인 측면도 있지만 이에 대한 다음 과 같은 원초적인 문제를 제기하지 않을 수 없다. ‘교회의 지도자들은 과연 청년들이 그들의 시기에 고민하고 갈등하는 문제에 대하여 얼마나 깊이 인식하고 이해하고 거 기에 대한 실제적인 대안을 마련할 준비가 되어 있는가?’, 한국교회는 그들이 진행하 는 지원과 프로그램을 통하여 가속화 되어 가는 청년들의 이탈 현상을 막을 수 있다 고 자신할 수 있는가? 위에서 언급했던 의문들과 함께 본 연구자는 그들을 다시 교회 로 불러들이고 청년부를 부흥시켜 침체기에 있는 개신교회를 증진하고 발전시키기 위 한 근본적인 방안으로 그들의 신앙회복과 신앙의 성숙을 위해 기독교 교육적인 모색이 필요하다고 사료 된다. 인간의 구원과 불가분의 관계에 있는 기독교 신앙은 하나 님의 주권하에 이루어지는 은혜인 것은 맞으나 자동적이고 기계적으로 그리고 형식적 으로 편성되는 도식화가 아니다. 성경에서 말하는 믿음은 많은 것을 내포하고 있다. 교회 청년부 신자들은 기나긴 삶의 여정에서 다양한 일들을 경험하며 성숙한 신앙의 길로 접어든다. 그러므로 교회는 그들을 성경 말씀으로 가르치고 양육하여, 이들이 하 나님 백성의 역할을 실제적이고 현실적으로 감당할 수 있게 신앙의 정립을 도모할 필 요가 있다. 본 논문은 청년들이 교회를 이탈하면서 쇠락기에 있는 청년부를 신앙으로 연구하기 위하여 기독교 교육적인 모색을 제시하고 있다. 이에 필자는 교회 청년들이 한국 사회에 직면하고 있는 현실을 규명하는 동시에 기독교 교육적인 입장에서 임팩 트(impact) 있는 신앙교육으로 그들의 신앙을 도모하고자 한다. 이 논문을 통하여 교 회의 신앙에 혼란과 갈등을 겪고 있는 한국교회 청년부가 활성화되기를 바란다.
