Tourism development provides various benefits to the development area, but it also has negative effects so studies have been investigating the issues; however, there is little research on the factors causing stress in local residents due to the negative effects of tourism development. For this reason, the primary of purpose of this research is to develop a reliable and valid scale for evaluating the stressor factors experienced by residents in the area as a result of tourism development. This study developed initial items through Delphi survey involving experts to develop the scale, and conducted several empirical analyses to verify its reliability and validity. Based on the empirical analysis results, the study developed 15 measurement items within four sub-factors which revealed the stressor factors experienced by local residents due to intra-regional tourism development. Accordingly, this study provides policymakers and researchers with a scale that can identify the factors causing stress in local residents due to tourism development, thereby providing fundamental information to minimize stress in local residents and promote sustainable tourism development in the region.

관광개발은 개발지역에 다양한 혜택들을 제공하는 동시에 부정적인 파급효과도 발생시키고 있어 많은 연구들은 관광개발에 따른 긍정적 그리고 부정적 파급효과들을 연구하고 있으나, 관광개발에 따른 부정적인 파급효과로 발생되는 지역주민의 스트레스에 대한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 지역주민들의 관광개발로 인한 스트레스 발생요인을 정량적으로 평가할 수 있는 신뢰성과 타당성이 확보된 척도를 개발하는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 척도를 개발하기 위해 전문가 패널을 통해 최초의 측정 항목들을 구성하고 이를 활용하여 실증적 분석들을 통해 척도의 신뢰성과 타당성을 검정하였다. 실증분석 결과, 지역 내 관광개발로 인한 지역주민이 지각하는 스트레스 발생요인은 총 4개의 하위요인에 15개 측정 항목들로 구성되었다. 이와 같은 척도개발을 통해 본 연구는 정책입안자들과 연구자 들에게 관광개발에 따른 지역주민들의 스트레스 발생요인을 측정할 수 있는 척도를 제시하여 지역주민들의 스트레스를 최소화하며 지역의 지속가능한 관광개발을 촉진할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하였다.
