Exploring User Perceptions of a Radar Sensor-Based Smart Healthcare Device for Heart Rate and Breathing Rate Monitoring through Interviews

초록

영어

This study explores user perceptions of radar sensor device designed for health monitoring, specifically measuring heart rate and breathing rate. A sample of 15 university students in South Korea, with diverse academic backgrounds, participated in hands-on usage and interviews. Qualitative data analysis using KH Coder and NVivo application revealed four main clusters: Experience and Technological Advancement, Usability and Practicality, Future Improvements and Potential, and Core Functionality. Frequency analysis highlighted key themes such as the device’s advanced technology, ease of use, and core health monitoring functionalities. The most frequently mentioned words included “sensor”, “health”, “design”, “heartbeat”, “function”, “breathing”, “useful”, and “easy”, reflecting participants’ focus on the device’s usability, functionality, and design. Cluster analysis further underscored the importance of advanced technology and user-friendly design in enhancing user engagement and satisfaction, while also highlighting areas for future improvements. Limitations include the small, homogenous sample size and short study duration, suggesting future research should involve diverse demographics and longitudinal studies to assess long-term usability and real-world effectiveness. These insights are crucial for refining health monitoring technologies to better meet user needs and improve health outcomes.
