The influx of foreign workers and marriage immigrants has led to an increase in foreign residents in Korean society. Despite a temporary decrease during the COVID-19 pandemic, the post-pandemic period has seen a rapid growth in foreign residents, accelerating the shift towards a multicultural society. In this context, the intelligence police, following organizational restructuring, have assumed responsibility for collecting information on public conflicts in multicultural societies, a role previously held by the foreign affairs police. However, this transition has led to issues such as operational confusion and a setback in the police's role in multicultural contexts, disrupting established communication and cooperation networks. This study identifies the challenges of multicultural acceptance faced by the intelligence police after the restructuring and proposes alternatives to enhance their effectiveness in managing public conflicts in a multicultural society. These findings aim to serve as foundational data for improving public conflict management in a multicultural context.

한국 사회는 외국인 노동자와 결혼이민자의 유입으로 인해 외국인 이민자 수가 증가하 고 있고, 코로나19 영향권으로 외국인 유입이 감소하였다가 영향권 탈피 후 국내 체류 외 국인 증가와 결혼이민자로 인한 다문화 사회로의 변화가 급속히 나타나고 있다. 이러한 사회적 현상 속에서 경찰은 조직개편으로 외사정보 수집 업무를 정보경찰로 전환하면서 다문화 사회의 공공갈등 정보 수집을 수행하는 정보경찰의 역할이 더욱 중요해지고 있다. 그러나 외사경찰이 수행하던 다문화 사회의 정보수집과 인적 네트워크를 활용한 소통, 치 안 협력은 개편과정에서 발생하는 인적 · 업무적 혼란과 다문화 사회에서 경찰 역할에 대한 세계화 흐름에 역행하는 문제가 확인되었다. 본 연구에서는 조직개편으로 인한 정보경찰의 다문화 수용성의 문제점을 파악하고 이를 향상을 위한 대안을 제시하여 다문화 사회의 공 공갈등 업무의 효율성을 높이는데 기초자료로서 활용하고자 한다.
