This study is to identify the suicide risk factors for surviving family members—specifically children, spouses, and parents —when a loved one dies by suicide. This study examined the impact of a family member’s suicide on three areas: suicidal thoughts, suicidal planning, and suicide attempts. The study participants completed a structured questionnaire for suicide survivors, and data from 167 respondents without missing information were used for analysis. First, the suicide rate among survivors is 34.1% for suicidal thoughts, 18.0% for suicidal plans, and 10.8% for suicide attempts. Second, logistic regression analysis revealed that witnessing the suicide scene, experiencing depression, having poor subjective health, and living alone are associated with suicidal thoughts. Additionally, witnessing the suicide scene and experiencing depression are associated with suicidal planning and suicide attempts. Based on these findings, implications for prevention and intervention of suicide among survivors were proposed.

본 연구의 목적은 자녀, 배우자, 부모가 자살로 사망했을 때, 남은 가족 구성원[자살생존자]의 자살위험 요인을 검증하는 데 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 가족 자살이 남은 가족 구성원의 자살생각, 자살계획, 자살시도 3가지 영역에 각각 미치는 영향력 을 살펴보았다. 연구대상은 19세 이상 성인 자살생존자이며 구 조화된 설문지를 통해 자료를 수집하였고 설문에 모두 응답하였 고 결측자료가 없는 167명을 분석에 활용하였다. 이에 대한 주 요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자살생존자의 자살위험에 대 한 영역별 비율은 자살생각군 34.1%, 자살계획군 18.0%, 자살 시도군 10.8%이다. 둘째, 로지스틱 회귀분석 결과 자살현장목격, 우울, 주관적 건강상태, 독거가 자살생각과 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 자살현장목격, 우울이 자살계획, 자살시도와 관련 이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 자살생존 자의 자살 예방과 개입에 관한 함의를 제안했다.
