高騈[Gāopián]is the most frequently mentioned person in Choi Chi-won's research and also has an important meaning for Choi Chi-won. This is because activities and careers in 高騈幕府(Gāopián's prospective governance) are important items that cannot be omitted when explaining the character Choi Chi-won. However, in the translation of Choi Chi-won's data and the study of Choi Chi-won, two forms of "고변[Gobyeon]" and "고병[Gobyoung]" in the Korean notation of A have been used continuously for more than 50 years without any awareness of any problems. This paper also serves as a research institute for Choi Chi-won's research and a translation of data related to Choi Chi-won to examine the actual state of Korean notation of '高騈', raise a question about it, and decide to use it as '고변'. "고변" was used in the translation of Choi Chi-won's collection of writings, "Gyewon Pilgyeong" and "Gounjip". In studies related to literature, "고변" was used more than "고병". On the other hand, "고병" was used more often in the translation of historical books such as "三國史記[Samguk Sagi]" and "資治通鑑[Zizhi-Tongjian]", and it was found that "고병" was used more frequently in Choi Chi-won related studies than "고병" was used in literature-related studies. Based on the fact that the 'foreign notation' of the , the meaning of '騈' that can be inferred from the nickname of "千里", 병려문 [Byeongnyemun] is a non-standard language of the '변려문[Byeonllyemun]', I propose to use '고변'.

高騈(821~887)은 최치원 연구에서 가장 자주 언급되는 인물이며 최치원에게도 중요 한 의미를 갖는 인물이다. 이는 高騈幕府에서의 활약과 경력은 최치원이란 인물을 설명 할 때 누락시킬 수 없는 핵심 항목이기 때문이다. 그런데 최치원 관련 자료 번역서와 최치원 연구에서 高騈의 한글 표기가 ‘고변’과 ‘고병’ 두 가지 형태로 50년이 넘는 세월 동안 별다른 문제의식 없이 계속해서 사용되고 있다. 본고는 최치원 관련 자료 번역서와 최치원 연구의 연구사를 일부 겸하여 ‘高騈’의 한글 표기 실태를 살펴보며 그에 대한 문 제를 제기하고 이를 ‘고변’으로 통일시켜 사용하자고 제안한 글이다. 최치원의 문집 『계원필경집』과 『고운집』의 번역에서는 ‘고변’이 사용되었는데 이러한 영향인지 문학과 관련된 연구에서는 ‘고변’이 고병보다 좀 더 많이 사용된 것으로 확인 된다. 반면, 김부식의 『삼국사기』나 司馬光의 『資治通鑑』 같은 역사서 번역에서는 ‘고병’ 이 사용되었는데, 이러한 영향인지 사학과 관련된 최치원 관련 연구에서 ‘고병’이 사용된 빈도는 문학 관련 연구에서 ‘고병’이 사용된 빈도보다 더 높은 것으로 파악된다. 필자는 <한국어 어문 규범>의 ‘외래어 표기법’, 高騈의 字가 ‘千里’라는 사실에서 유추할 수 있는 ‘騈’의 의미, 병려문은 ‘변려문’의 비표준어라는 등의 사실을 근거로 ‘高騈’ 의 한글 표기를 ‘고변’으로 통일하여 사용하자고 제안하는 바이다.
