Park Choonghungong yeonbo(朴忠憲公年譜) is a chronicle of Park Munsu(朴文秀, 1691~1756) and is the most detailed biographical source of Park in existence. This study compares the yeonbo to the original sources used to compile it and examines how the editor selected and arranged the contents to reveal Park's characteristic features and the historical significance of the compilation of the yeonbo. The sources used in Park Choonghungong yeonbo include Park's memorial to the king, royal decrees, records of contemporary officials, and articles from the Council of State. The editor of the yeonbo collected a wide range of authoritative sources and wrote the yeonbo by excerpting and quoting from them to ensure its authenticity. Since Park Choonghungong yeonbo is a document that selects the actions of the subject according to the editor's purpose, the Park in the yeonbo is a reconstruction of the editor's interpretation rather than a historical reality. Through a series of reviews, we found that Park Choonghungong yeonbo's criteria for selecting the contents were Park's political achievements and the king's recognition, emphasizing that Park was a competent and loyal servant and therefore had the unwavering trust of King Yeongjo. The narratives that emphasize the king's recognition are also consistent with the tendency of chronicles of Soron faction(少論) officials active in the 18th century.

『朴忠憲公年譜』는 耆隱 朴文秀(1691~1756)의 삶을 시대순으로 정리한 연대기로, 현전하는 박문수의 전기 자료 가운데 가장 상세하고 방대한 내용을 담고 있다. 본 연구 에서는 연보의 편찬에 활용된 원자료와 연보의 내용을 비교하여 편찬자가 어떤 방식으로 내용을 선별하고 배치하였는지 살펴보고, 이를 통해 구성된 박문수의 특징적 면모와 연 보의 편찬 작업이 지니는 시대적 의미를 가늠하였다. 연보에 활용된 자료로는 박문수의 상소문․ 국왕의 전교․ 동시대 관료의 필기집․ 입시 기사 등이 확인된다. 연보의 편찬자는 권위 있는 문헌을 폭넓게 수집하고 자료를 발췌 ․ 인용하는 방식으로 연보의 내용을 작성하였는데, 이를 통해 내용의 구체성과 진실성을 높이고자 하였다. 연보는 편찬자의 목적에 따라 대상 인물의 행적을 선별한 문헌이기에 연보 속의 박문 수는 역사적 실재라기보다는 편찬자의 해석을 거쳐 재구성된 결과물이다. 일련의 검토를 통해 『박충헌공연보』는 박문수의 정치적 공적과 임금의 지우가 주요한 선별의 기준으로 작용하였으며, 유능하고 충의로운 신하로서 영조의 확고부동한 신뢰를 받았던 면모를 중 점적으로 부각하였음을 확인하였다. 특히 임금의 인정을 강조하는 서술은 18세기에 활 동한 소론 관료들의 행적을 다룬 연대기의 경향을 일정하게 반영하는 것이기도 하다.
