This paper examines the delegation schedule of 1791 and the contents of Kim Jung-joong's Yeon Haeng Rok(燕行錄), as well as the delegation schedule of 1866 and the contents of the Yeon Haeng Il Gi(燕行日記) authored by an unknown individual distinct from Ryu Who Jo(柳厚祚) and Ryu In Mok(柳寅睦). Despite recent attention in several research papers regarding issues of plagiarism in Yeonhaengrok, no records have been found indicating direct copying of its contents in subsequent works such as the Yeon Haeng Il Gi by the unknown author in 1866. Through my research, it has been confirmed that the Yeon Haeng Il Gi in 1866 indeed quoted from Kim Jeong-joong's Yeon Haeng Rok. Therefore, in this paper, instead of using the term "plagiarism", I employ "quotation, transformation, and misuse". By exploring various aspects such as objective and subjective description quotations, transformations and supplementary information, and instances of misuse, I aim to examine the creative consciousness behind Yeon Haeng Il Gi.

본고는 1791년 사행 경위와 김정중 『燕行錄』의 내용, 그리고 1866년 사행 경위와 작가미상 『燕行日記』의 내용을 살펴보고, 1866년 『燕行日記』의 작가가 기존에 알려진 柳厚祚도 柳寅睦도 아닌 것을 증명하고자 한다. 아울러 1866년 작가미상의 『燕行日記』 는 김정중의 『燕行錄』을 대폭 베껴 써서 만든 연행록이라는 사실을 밝히고, 김정중의 『燕行錄』에 대한 引用과 變用, 誤用 양상을 통해 『燕行日記』 작가의 연행록 창작 방식을 살펴보도록 한다. 전대 연행록의 수용과 변용의 문제에 대해 근래에 이르러 연행 지식․정보의 수집․정리 및 확대․재생산 등 시각에서 다룬 연구 논문이 발표되어 많은 관심을 끌고 있다. 필자는 1866년 『燕行日記』의 내용이 주로 김정중의 『燕行錄』을 인용한 것임을 확인한 바 있다. 1866년 『燕行日記』의 작가는 김정중의 『燕行錄』을 베껴 썼지만, 인용 내용에 대한 선택과 취사를 통해 나름대로의 수용 방식과 시대적 의미를 드러냈다. 따라서 필자는 이를 ‘표절’ 이라고 하지 않고 ‘引用과 變用, 誤用’이라고 지칭하였다. 본고는 客觀 敍述 引用과 主觀 敍述 引用, 引用 대상에 대한 變用과 情報 추가․ 수정, 誤用으로 인한 眞實性 喪失 등 다양한 양상의 분석을 통해 1866년 『燕行日記』의 창작 방식을 살펴보고자 한다.
