This thesis paid attention to cultural exchange between Korea and Japan, especially, the Korea–Japan traditional arts performance. Particularly, this thesis reviewed the variation process of ‘Sakura’ collaborated by Haegeum and Goto in performed together by Korea–Japan traditional arts held in Osaka of 2017, and then examined the aspect of exchange between artists. Through this process, both performers, Lee Mi–Hyang and Yokoyama Kayoko faced their own cultures and identities, and also created music in which they could meet and empathize with people in other positions. In other words, when the traditional arts of both Korea and Japan mingled together through the private exchange rater than popular culture, it was possible to establish a positive relationship in Japan, Korea, and Zainichi society. Even though it is urgently needed to attempt and establish the possibility of cultural exchange through traditional arts, there have been almost no researches on cultural exchange through Korea–Japan traditional arts. Hopefully, this thesis could be contributing to this research area that has not been progressed yet.

이 논문은 한일 문화교류, 그중에서도 한일 전통예술 공연에 주목하였다. 특히 2017년 오사카에서 개최된 한일 전통예술이 함께 공연한 <야쿠스기 천년의 가락> 중 해금과 고토가 콜라버레이션한 ‘사쿠라’의 변주 과정을 검토하고 예술가들의 교류 양상에 대해 살펴봤다. 연주자인 이미향과 요코야마 카요코는 이 과정을 통해 자신의 문화와 정체성과 마주하며, 또한 다른 입장을 가진 사람과 만나 서로 공감할 수 있는 음악을 만들었 다. 즉 대중문화보다는 민간교류의 성격이 강한 한일 양국의 전통예술이 서로 아 우러지면서, 일본과 한국 그리고 재일코리안 사회에 긍정적인 관계를 구축할 수 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 한일 전통예술을 통한 문화교류 연구는 전통예술을 통한 문화교류의 가능성에 관한 시도와 평가가 시급함에도 불구하고 지금까지 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 본 논문이 아직 진행되지 못한 이러한 연구 분야에 일조할 수 있기를 희망한다.
