This study analyzes the trends of central bank digital currency (CBDC) in major countries including the United States, China, the European Union, Japan, and Korea, focusing on the rapid transition to the digital economy and the global research, development, and adoption trends of CBDC. Reflecting these international trends, Korea is developing and considering the introduction of both retail CBDC and wholesale CBDC to enhance the efficiency of domestic and international payment systems. This paper assesses the impact that CBDC can have on the Korean financial market and suggests strategic responses for financial and institutional sectors to adopt.

본 연구는 디지털 경제로의 급속한 전환과 중앙은행 디지털 화폐(CBDC)의 전 세계적인 연구개 발 및 도입 추세에 주목하여 미국, 중국, 유럽연합, 일본 및 한국을 포함한 주요 국가들의 CBDC 연구 및 개발 동향을 분석한다. 이러한 국제적 동향을 반영하여 한국은 국내외 결제 시스템의 효율성 증진을 위해 소매 및 도매 CBDC 개발하고 도입을 검토하고 있다. 본 논문은 CBDC가 한국 금융 시장에 미칠 영향을 분석하고, 금융기관과 제도권이 취해야 할 전략적 대응을 제안한다.
