The child and youth policies in South Korea have traditionally focused on children in need of protection. However, these policies are increasingly evolving into universal policies that encompass all children and adolescents. Children (under 18) and adolescents (ages 9 to 24) often overlap in age, resulting in policy targets being duplicated. Despite this, there is a significant lack of research on the current status and standards of child and youth facilities. This study aims to conduct foundational research on the facilities and spaces that should be prioritized in future child and youth policies and to propose developmental strategies. Through this research, the goal is to ensure that the current direction of child and youth facilities focuses on promoting healthy growth and capacity development, while also providing an opportunity to improve and enhance dedicated spaces.
