The purpose of this thesis is to study the arguments of "Yulgok Yi I(1536- 1584)⋅Ugye Sung Hon(1535-1598)⋅Gubong Song Ik-pil(1534-1599)" during the establishment of symbolic study in the 16th century. Samhyun formed Dowoojigyo Bridge in Paju and continued his academic activities with friendships and admiration that did not change with each other, exchanging letters for 34 years(1560-1593). Although each person had different origins, academic perspectives, status, and talents, they shared the problem consciousness and thoughts that were revealed in the course of the argument, and sometimes continued cold criticism and affectionate advice, establishing their beliefs and confidence in their respective studies. The purpose of this thesis is to lay the foundation for a more three-dimensional view of the future development by considering various aspects of the era in which symbolic pre-study is formed. Later, as the exchange of "Yulgok⋅Ugye⋅Gubong" was shared by later juniors, it became a starting point for further study of their thoughts. In addition, the discussion of pre-study by Samhyun had a great influence on the formation of pre-study for symbols centered on the four sectors in terms of common characteristics and pre-study.

이 논문은 16세기 기호 유학 성립기(成立期)에 “율곡 이이(1536∼1584)⋅우계 성혼(1535∼1598)⋅구봉 송익필(1534∼1599)”이 예(禮)에 대한 논변을 펼친 것을 연구하는 것이 목적이다. 삼현(三賢)은 파주(坡州)에서 도우지교(道友之交)를 맺고 서로 변치 않는 우정과 흠모를 가지고 34년(1560년∼1593년) 동안 편지를 주고받으면서 교우(交友)와 학술 활동을 지속하였다. 각자가 가학(家學)의 연원과 학문적 관점 그리고 출신 신분과 각자의 재능이 각기 다르지만, 논변(論辯)의 과정에서 드러내었던 문제의식과 사유를 함께 공유하였고, 때로는 냉정한 비판과 애정 어린 충고를 이어 나가면서 각자의 학문에 대한 신념과 확신을 정립되게 되었다. 삼현(三賢)의 논변을 통하여 기호 예학이 형성되는 시기에 다양한 양상으로 드러나는 예의 모습을 확인할 수 있었고, 이러한 논변은 이후 예학의 발전을 입체적으로 조망할 수 있는 토대(土臺)가 되어 주었다. 이후에 “율곡 ⋅우계 ⋅구봉”의 학문적 교류(交流)를 후학들이 공유하면서 그들의 사상을 더욱 심도 있게 연구할 수 있는 시작점이 되었다. 또한 삼현의 예학에 대한 논의는 서로 공통된 특성과 예학적인 면에서 사계(沙溪)를 중심으로 한 기호 예학 형성에 큰 영향을 주었다.
