The scriptural background of the Odaesan Manjusri Bodhisattva Faith is “There is a place called Cheongnyang Mountain in the northeast of the Bodhisattva in the Avatamsaka Sutra” and “The main body of the Bodhisattva is a Manjusri Bodhisattva, and There are the 10,000 Bodhisattva and is always preaching.” This serves as the philosophical origin of Mount Odaesan faith both in China and Korea. Jajang Monk met Avalokiteshvara in China. He also intended to see the Avalokiteshvara in Silla's Odaesan Mountains. but, it was unable to fulfill his wish. Nevertheless, Jajang Monk designated Silla's Odaesan Mountain as Cheongnyangsan Mountain. It is understood that the geographical, geopolitical, and religious elements of the Odaesan Mountains themselves influenced the decision of Jajang Monk. The Faith in Silla's Odaesan Mountains is a "Silla's reinterpretation" that transforms the belief in China's Odaesan Mountains. The unique characteristics of Silla include the Fifty thousand real bodies ideology, reading the scriptures and worshiping, association and blessed field, which is based on the Buddha-land thought that can be seen in the Faith system and structure of Silla's Odaesan Mountains.
