A Study on the Korean Movie Reception of Japanese - a reflection of excessive discourses on the Hallyu
초록
영어
This paper tries to think over the meaning of cultural communication among nations and people living in those countries. Recently, the new-made word, Hallyu(the korean wave), captures so many people including the government, culture industry, journalism and scholars. They are busy to make strategies to broaden Hallyu commodities, specially in Asia. However, this paper is interested in the audience of cultural texts and focused on inner experiences of those people. For this, this paper analyzed texts in which Japanese audience express their feeling and thinking after watching korean movies. Until now, many factors such as in-depth making, diverse genres and stories, familiar themes to asian, attractive stars, cultural proximity, etc., are mentioned as grounds for the success of Korean movies in Asia. But unfortunately, there have not been many researches or studies about the real audience in Japan. In this situation, those studies lack of questioning why Japanese like Korean movies, what they feel and think, how they evaluate Korean movies. We have to be serious in interpreting the fashion of popular culture. It is neither only a commodity nor a consumptional act to receive cultural texts. The cultural communication means the sharing of meanings, feelings, experiences, thoughts, moral values among people in so many different countries and areas. In this respect, this paper stresses on the self-signification of audience receiving cultural texts.
