Art makeup is widely used commercially as well as for artistic purposes, and there are no restrictions on express ion methods and areas. Accordingly, this study studied ar t makeup design using Henri Matisse's paintings by peri od as a motif. For the study, first a theoretical considerati on of art makeup was conducted, and the characteristics of Henri Matisse's paintings were classified into early, m iddle, and late periods. Seven works reflecting the charac teristics of each period were selected, an art makeup desi gn was planned, and the works were produced. In the des ign plan and production of the work, the materials, colors, and expression techniques found in paintings were mainl y used to express space, form, emotion, and image in the facial area of the human body. As a result, it was found that it was possible to use two-dimensional materials suc h as nature and objects used in painting on the human body, and that space, emotions, and images could be expr essed by emphasizing or contrasting visual effects using contrast of light and dark and primary colors. was confir med. Additionally, the collage technique used in painting is similar to the object technique of art makeup, confirmi ng the possibility of its application in the art makeup fiel d in the future. In other words, it was confirmed that arti stic expression combining art makeup and painting is pos sible. This is meaningful in that it expands the artistic sc ope of art makeup and is a new attempt at expressing ex perimental and creative work production. We hope that re search on art makeup design will continue in the future through convergence with various fields of painting and that it will be used as basic data for follow-up research.

아트 메이크업은 예술적인 목적 이외에도 상업적으로도 많이 활용되고 있으며표현 방법 및 영역에있어 제한을 두지 않고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 시대별 앙리 마티스의 회화를 모 티브로 아트 메이크업 디자인을 연구하였으며 연구를 위해 먼저, 아트 메이크업에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하였고 앙리 마티 스의 회화를 초기, 중기, 후기로 시기를 분류하여 특징들을 조사하고 시기별 특징을 반영한 7가지 작품을 선정하여 아트 메이크업 디자인을 계획한 후 작품을 제작하였다. 디자인 계 획과 작품 제작에는 회화에서 나타나는 소재, 색채, 표현기법 을 중점적으로 활용하여 인체의 얼굴 부분에 공간, 형태, 감 정, 이미지를 표현하였다. 그 결과 인체에도 회화에서 활용하 는 자연과 사물 등의 2차원적 소재의 활용이 가능함을 알 수 있었고 명암의 대비, 원색을 활용한 시각적 효과를 강조 또는 대조하여 공간과 감정, 이미지를 표현할 수 있음을 확인하였 다. 또한 회화에서 사용하는 콜라주 기법 등이 아트 메이크업 의 오브제 기법 등과 유사하여 향후 아트 메이크업 영역에서 응용할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 즉 아트 메이크업과 회 화를 결합한 예술적 표현이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었는데 이 는 아트 메이크업의 예술적 영역을 확장하고 실험적이고 창 의적인 작품 제작표현의 새로운 시도라는 점에 그 의미가 있 다고 할 수 있다. 향후 다양한 회화 분야와의 융합을 통해 아 트 메이크업 디자인 연구가 지속적으로 이루어지기를 기대하 며 후속 연구의 기초자료로 활용되기를 바란다.
