The research results have explored the impact of general strain theory on adolescent delinquency in South Korea. While previous studies in the country generally support the static relationship between strain and delinquency, there has been a lack of research on the moderating effects of sociological factors, with most studies focusing on internal variables such as moral beliefs, self-esteem, self-control, and resilience. In response to this gap, the study aimed to examine the influence of strain experienced by students on adolescent delinquency and analyze the role of sociological characteristics(dedication, involvement) in moderating the relationship between strain and delinquency. The analysis utilized data from the "Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018" conducted by the Korea Institute of Child and Youth Policy, involving 2,438 adolescents. The results of the analysis are as follows: Firstly, parental strain, peer strain, and academic strain were found to have a significant static impact on adolescent delinquency. In other words, strains induced by negative stimuli, namely parental strain, peer strain, and academic strain, were positively associated with an increase in delinquent behavior, aligning with the assertions of general strain theory. Secondly, among the moderating variables, dedication exhibited a negative moderating effect on the impact of peer strain on delinquency, while involvement demonstrated a static moderating effect on the influence of parental strain and academic strain on delinquency. Based on these research findings, it can be suggested that addressing different types of strains experienced by students and tailoring interventions accordingly to the environment and situation may reduce the likelihood of adolescent delinquency, which is considered the precursor to adult criminal behaviors.

일반긴장이론에 근거한 긴장요인이 비행에 미치는 영향에 대한 선행연구들이 국내외에서 수행되 었고, 대부분은 긴장과 비행의 정적인 관계를 대체로 지지한다는 결과를 발견하였다. 하지만 국내에 서 수행된 긴장이론 연구에서 활용한 조절변수는 청소년의 내적 변수가 대부분이었고, 사회유대 요 인의 조절효과에 대한 연구가 매우 부족한 실정이다. 이 연구는 청소년이 경험하는 긴장이 청소년 지위비행에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 과정에서 긴장과 비행의 관계를 조절하는 사회유대 요인(헌신, 참여)들의 영향력을 분석하였다. 자료는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 수집한 ‘한국아동ㆍ청소년패널조사 한국아동ㆍ청소년패널조사 2018’을 활용하였고, 청소년 2,438명이 포함되었다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모긴장, 친구긴 장, 학업긴장은 청소년 지위비행에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 즉, 부정적 자 극의 발생에서 유발된 긴장인 부모긴장, 친구긴장, 학업긴장이 높을수록 비행행동이 증가한다는 면 에서 일반긴장이론의 주장과 일치하였다. 둘째, 조절변수 중 헌신은 친구긴장이 지위비행에 미치는 영향에 대해 부적으로 조절하는 효과를 가지며, 참여는 부모긴장과 학업긴장이 지위비행에 미치는 영향에 대해 정적으로 조절하는 효과가 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년의 지위비행을 감소시키기 위해 청소년들이 느끼는 긴장의 유형 에 따라 상황에 맞게 차별적으로 대응하는 노력이 필요하고, 나아가 관련 정책적 함의를 제시하였다.
