The purpose of this study is to identify the functions and types of feedback provided by intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs), and to derive improvement directions for educational effectiveness and implications for future development. This study selected four ITS platforms (Mathtutor, Stoichiometry Tutor, AdaptErrex, and Chem Tutor) developed with Cognitive Tutor Authoring Tools (CTAT) built by Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and analyzed the timing, purpose, content, and subject of feedback provided by each platform. As a result of the analysis, we found that there was no feedback for the purpose of self-regulation, and that feedback with definitional content was provided at an insufficient level, confirming the need for improvement in relevant variables, especially in terms of supporting motivation. We also suggested adding a function that allows AI to generate individualized feedback based on learner characteristics, as there is no generative feedback function.

본 연구는 ITS(Intelligent Tutoring System)가 제공하는 피드백의 기능과 유형을 확인하고 교육적 효과를 위 한 개선 방향과 추후 개발 시 고려해야 할 시사점 도출에 목적을 두고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 CMU(Carnegie Mellon University)에서 구축한 CTAT(Cognitive Tutor Authoring Tools)으로 개발된 ITS 플랫폼 4개 (Mathtutor, Stoichiometry Tutor, AdaptErrex, Chem Tutor)를 선정하여, 각 플랫폼이 피드백을 제공하는 시기, 목적, 내용, 주체를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 자기조절을 목적으로 피드백은 찾아 볼 수 없었고, 정의적 내용을 담 은 피드백이 미흡한 수준으로 제공되는 것으로 나타났다. 피드백과 관련 변수 중 특히 동기 유발을 지원하는 측 면에서 보완이 필요함을 확인하였다. 또한 생성형 피드백 기능이 없어 AI가 학습자 특성에 따른 개별 피드백을 생성하는 기능을 추가할 것을 제안하였다.
