This research investigates a case where Problem-Based Learning (PBL) was applied to aviation English classes at a domestic four-year university with a department of aviation services. The aim was to assist learners in understanding and successfully passing interviews with international airlines. The course objectives included enhancing learners' abilities to express themselves in English speaking and in attitudes, values, and practical skills related to cabin crew duties for international airlines. Through problem posing, topic-based problem-solving activities, self-assessment, and peer assessment in PBL classes, learner interest and motivation were enhanced. Based on this case study, instructors should design more specific classes for solving problems related to employment in international airlines, develop appropriate assignments, and assessment methods to help learners understand the purpose and value of PBL learning methods.

이 연구는 항공서비스학과가 개설된 국내 4년제 대학의 항공영어 수업을 PBL에 적용한 사례로 학습자에게 해외 항공사 면접에 대한 이해 및 성공적인 합격을 돕고자 조사되었다. 해외 항공사 객실 승무원으로의 취업을 위해 영어 말하기와 승무직 실무와 관련된 태도, 가치관 등을 표현하는 능력을 향상시키는 것을 교과목의 학습 목표로 하며, PBL 수업에서 문제제기, 주제별 문제해결 활동, 자기평가 및 동료평가를 통하여 학습자의 흥미와 학습 동기를 향상 시킬 수 있었다. 본 사례 연구를 바탕으로 교수자는 해외 항공사 취업을 위한 보다 구체적인 문제해결을 위한 수업을 설계하고, 적절한 과제 설정과 평가 방법을 개발하여 학습자들이 PBL 학습법의 목적 과 가치를 이해하도록 지원해야 할 과제가 남아있음을 시사한다.
