This study theoretically examined guiding principles for developing and designing extracurricular education programs based on competencies. The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, to integrate extracurricular education programs, emphasis should be placed on fostering creative and practical knowledge and skills that meet the demands of a knowledge-based society, while prioritizing personalized learning and real-world experiences to support holistic student development. This can be achieved by emphasizing collaboration with external stakeholders, and adopting flexible and innovative operational and evaluation methods to support students' comprehensive growth. Secondly, competency-based education programs should emphasize autonomous learning experiences to enable learners to develop practical competencies, and provide processes for clearly defining and enhancing competencies necessary for job performance. Additionally, respecting learners' choices and decisions, instructors should design and evaluate classes based on learning objectives and performance criteria. Thus, diverse learning experiences and collaborative frameworks are essential to promote learners' autonomous participation and practical competency development, while curriculum design should adopt an integrated direction linked with interdisciplinary education.

이 연구에서는 대학에서의 비교과 교육과정이 역량 함양을 위해 역량기반 비교과 교육과정 개발 및 설계를 할 때 지향해야 할 점에 대해 이론적으로 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 역량과 대학 비교과 교육과정 간의 연계 에 대해서 살펴보았다. 다음으로는 역량기반 교육과정의 특징을 바탕으로 학생활동 중심의 역량기반 교육과정 설계에서 비교과 교육프로그램이 지향해야 할 점을 살펴보았다. 그 결과를 다음과 같이 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 비교과 교육과정을 연계하기 위해서는 지식기반 사회의 요구를 충족시키기 위해 창의적이고 현장 에서 유용한 지식과 기술을 강조해야하며, 이를 위해 외부와의 협력이 필요하다. 학생들의 개인화된 학습과 실 전 경험을 위해 다양한 학습경험과 협력체제가 필요하다. 이 모든 과정에서는 학습자의 선택과 결정을 존중해 야 한다. 둘째, 교육과정에 대한 혁신적인 운영과 평가방법을 채택해서 학생들의 전인적 성장을 지원해야 할 것이다. 역량기반 교육과정은 학습의 과정에서 학습자가 실질적인 역량을 개발할 수 있어야 하기 때문이다. 셋 째, 교수자는 학습목표와 수행준거를 기반으로 수업을 설계하고 평가해야 한다. 결론적으로 역량기반 교육과 정 설계는 융·통합적으로 이루어져서 초학문적인 방향으로 가야 할 것이다.
