The aim of this study was to make seedling mass production strategies of forest medicinal plants using plant tissue culture. For seedling production, several in vitro propagation techniques have developed medicinal herbs. It is able to adapt resulting allowing practical application to secure virus-free plants and establish mass proliferation systems such as Korean angelica, peony and Cnidium officinale which is widely used to produce medicinal products. Among the various techniques, embryogenesis has been adapted to regenerate seedling using plant explants including leaf, stem, petiole, roots and etc. Korean angelica, peony, Buleurum falcatum and Aralia cordata, etc was reported. However, some techniques have been developed using new shoots through in vitro seed germination. It has been difficult to apply clonal propagation for variety and/or unique clone proliferation. Therefore production of virus-free clone using vegetative organ explants has been expected to increase harvest yield and produce high quality products. Based on this study, in vitro culture techniques are able to establish strategies of clonal proliferation on medicinal herbs.
