There are 22 National Parks in Korea. National Park is last shelter of wildlife and repository of natural life resources. Species diversity of National Park in Korea was counted annually and each park investigated once in 5 years legally. 22 National parks located at mountain and sea and it is 6,726.298 square kilometers in area. National park covers 6.71% of the Korea’s total surface area and 3.96% of its total territory. Investigated total number of diversity in National Parks is 20,710. It covers 44% of the Korea’s total species diversity 47,003(2016.12., Ministry of Environment of Korea). It is composed of Insecta which is the biggest group(9,080, 43.8%), Higher plant(4,455, 18.5%), Algae(1,676, 8.1%), Invertebrate(except Insect(1,607, 7.8%)), Fungi(1,798, 8.7%), and etc. Compare to National species diversity, Amphibia has the most diverse species composition (90%) and Higher plant (86.1%), Bird (78%), Arachinida (76%), Reptilia (68.8%), Bryophyte (59.7%), Mammalia (56%), Insecta (53.4%) and etc, comes after. Jirisan Natinoal Park that the oldest and the largest land national park has the largest species composition(7,942), and marine national park (Dadohaehaesang, Hallyeohaesang, Taeanhaean, Byeonsanbando) also has many species diversity.
