Hwang Soon-won's 『The Moving Castle』 was examined from the perspectives of chronotope, love of place, placelessness, and otherness. 『The Moving Castle』 consists of 4 chapters and consists of the chronotope of Seong-ho-Mrs. Hong, Myeong-suk, and Ji-yeon, Min-gu-Eun-hee, Park Su-byeon, and Jun-tae-Chang-ae and Ji-yeon. The narrative is confusingly mixed, revealing the journey of several characters in search of identity in fragments. The chronotope of 『The Moving Castle』 is the time and space of loss of place. It is a space for others who cannot be reborn as subjects. So, others consciously set out on a journey to ‘create a place.’ This attempt at creating a place delays the meaninglessness of our lives and the loss of subjectivity, allows us to gain awareness of human existence and ontological self, and ultimately allows the desiring subject to transcend ontology and connect with the subject without integrating the other into the self. It seeks ethical relationships with others. In other words, the characters in 『The Moving Castle』 are others who have slipped from the subject. They are beings who have slipped from subjectivity due to the circumstances and environment of the times and the wounds and traumas they have. Therefore, Hwang Soon-won's wandering others seek to express their identity through attempts to create a place for settlement. It also deals with the issue of ethics in the relationship between the subject and others. Through the perspective of chronotope, placeness, and otherness, the author sought to reveal the search for identity, the issues of human existence, and the ethical relationship between the subject and others that he seeks to embody in the novel. I hope that this study will be an opportunity to go one step further than existing research and study this work from various angles.

황순원의 『움직이는 성』을 크로노토프, 장소애와 장소 상실, 타자성의 시각에서 살펴보았다. 『움직이는 성』은 4장으로 구성되어 있으며 성호- 홍여사․명숙․지연, 민구-은희․박수 변씨, 준태-창애․지연의 크로노토프로 구성된다. 여러 인물의 정체성 찾기의 여정을 파편적으로 드러내며 서사 가 혼란스럽게 뒤섞여 있다. 『움직이는 성』의 크로노토프는 장소 상실의 시공간이다. 주체로 거듭 나지 못하는 타자들의 공간이다. 그래서 타자들은 의식적으로 ‘장소 만들 기’를 위한 여정을 떠난다. 이러한 장소 만들기의 시도는 우리 삶이 무의 미해지는 것, 주체성 상실을 지연시키고, 인간 실존과 존재론적 자아에 대한 깨달음을 얻게 해주고, 결국엔 욕망하는 주체가 타자를 자기 안으로 통합시키지 않고 존재론을 초월해 주체와 타자의 윤리적 관계를 추구하 는 것이다. 즉 『움직이는 성』 속의 인물들은 주체에서 미끄러진 타자들이다. 시대 상황과 환경, 그들이 가진 상처와 트라우마로 인해 주체에서 미끄러진 존재들이다. 그래서 황순원의 유랑하는 타자들은 정착을 위한 장소 만들 기 시도를 통해 주체성 발현을 도모하고 있다. 그리고 주체와 타자의 관 계 속에서 윤리성의 문제까지 다루고 있다. 크로노토프와 장소성, 타자성 의 시각을 통해 작가가 소설에서 구현하고자 하는 정체성 찾기와 인간 실존 문제, 주체와 타자의 윤리적 관계를 밝혀내고자 했다. 이 연구가 기 존 연구에서 한 걸음 더 나아가 다양한 각도에서 이 작품을 연구할 수 있는 계기가 되기를 바란다.
