The purpose of this thesis is to examine the characteristics of mimesis and diegesis in Kim Soo-young’s poetry, and to examine the related figurative diversity. Kim Soo-young’s poetry creation method has a modernism character, and above all, it can be said that it is in the spirit of experimentation that pursues novelty. Of these, the part that this study paid attention to is the poetic elements such as metaphor, simile, symbol, and tone inherent in mimesis/diegesis expression. Kim Sooyoung’s prose poems, which are developed around stories, do not reveal the way of metaphor, and are restrained in a hidden form. This composition shows a difference in the description of the subject as a characteristic of the poetic plot. The description as it is can be understood as a mimesis description, and the part containing the author’s point of view can be seen as a diegesis description. The two parts have the function of enabling the interpretation of a more expanded meaning in the poem. According to the data of the Association of Korean Literature Critics for Korea, the description of the author’s objective and subjective perspectives is a mimesis/diegesis aspect. These characteristics are well represented in Kim Soo-young’s poems, and it can be seen that the characteristics of intrinsic and extrinsic metaphors are contained throughout the poems. Particularly, among the works that show such characteristics well, ｢Giant Root｣, which is well known as a prose poem, can be cited. This work has a clear story development among Kim Soo-young’s prose poems, and above all, mimesis/diegesis descriptions are well developed in each stanza. The second research conducted is the relationship between the mimesis/diegesis character and metaphorical description found in ｢Grass｣. The focus here is the poetic expression through repetition and the figurative methodology of empathy that is perceived through repetition. Empathy in poetry is generally derived naturally through metaphorical objects. Kim Soo-young’s poetry has the effect of expanding the scope of interpretation by mainly using the method of internal metaphor. In this study, the possibility of expanded poetic aesthetics was examined while focusing on the expression of mimesis/diegesis.

본 논문은 김수영의 시에서 미메시스와 디에게시스적 특징을 살펴보 고, 이와 연관된 비유적 다양성을 살피는 것에 목적을 두었다. 김수영의 시 창작 방법은 모더니즘 성격을 띠고 있으며, 무엇보다 새로움을 추구하 는 실험정신에 있다고 하겠다. 이중 본 연구에서 관심을 두었던 부분은 미메시스/디에게시스적 표현에 내재된 은유, 직유, 상징, 어조 등의 시적 요소이다. 스토리를 중심으로 전개된 김수영의 산문시에는 비유의 방식 이 겉으로 드러나 있지 않으며, 숨겨진 형태로 절제되어 있다. 이러한 구성은 시적 플롯의 특징으로 대상의 묘사에서 차이를 보인다. 있는 그대 로의 묘사는 미메시스적 서술로 이해할 수 있으며, 저자의 관점이 포함된 부분은 디에게시스적 서술로 볼 수 있다. 두 부분은 시에서 보다 확장된 의미의 해석이 가능하도록 하는 기능이 있다. 위한국문학평론가협회의 자료에 의하면 저자의 객관적 시각과 주관적 시각의 묘사는 미메시스/디에게시스적 양상이라고 한다. 김수영 시에도 이러한 특징이 잘 나타나 있으며, 그로 인해 내재적 ․외재적 비유의 특징 이 시 곳곳에 들어있다고 볼 수 있다. 특히 그러한 성격이 잘 나타나 있는 작품 중에서 산문시로 잘 알려진 ｢거대한 뿌리｣를 들 수 있다. 이 작품은 김수영의 산문시 중에서 스토리 전개가 분명하고, 무엇보다 미메시스/ 디에게시스적 묘사가 각 연에 잘 전개되어 있다. 두 번째 진행한 연구는 ｢풀｣에서 발견한 미메시스/디에게시스적 성격 과 비유적 묘사에 대한 관련성이다. 여기서 중점적으로 본 부분은 반복을 통한 시적 표현과 이로 인해 인지하게 되는 감정이입의 비유적 방법론이 다. 시에서 감정이입은 비유적 대상을 통해 자연스럽게 도출되는 것이 일반적이다. 김수영의 시는 내재적 비유의 방식을 주로 사용함으로써 해 석의 범주가 확장되는 효과가 있다. 본 연구에서는 미메시스/ 디에게시스적 표현에 집중하면서 확장된 시적 미학의 가능성을 검토하였다.
