Despite the incompatibility between criticality and creativity in general, this study suggests their compatibility when approached by an integral perspective, resulting in an qualitative improvement of thinking and an efficient problem solving. This can be summarized by following three principles. Firstly, it necessitates an integral approach for two different types of thinking, critical thinking and creative thinking, when regarding each other from their own perspective. Secondly, creative thinking can be a very comprehensive concept, to which critical thinking is considered to be identical. Thirdly, it lays creativity as a cornerstone for the critical thinking ability. As a result, life requires of most of the people an equilibrium between critical thinking and creative thinking and this can only be dealt with education opened to integral thinking.

이 연구는 비판성과 창의성은 양립 불가능한 것처럼 보이지만 실제에 서는 통합적인 시각으로 접근할 때 사고의 질적 향상과 효과적인 문제해 결에 도움이 된다는 사실에 주목하였다. 구체적으로 창의적 사고란 어떤 문제에 대해 새롭거나 개선된 해결책의 발견이라는 결과를 가져오는 사 고인데 반해, 비판적 사고는 제시된 해결책들이 효과가 있을 것인지 알아 보기 위해 그 해결책들을 검토하고 시험하는 것이다. 이에 관련하여 다음 의 세 가지 원칙을 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 서로 다른 두 가지 사고, 즉 비판적 사고와 창의적 사고를 각자의 관점에서 바라보는 통합적 접근이 필요하다. 둘째, 창의적 사고를 아주 포괄적으로 사용했을 때 두 사고는 같은 개념으로 사용될 수 있다. 셋째, 비판적 사고 능력의 핵심에 창의성 이 바탕을 이루고 있다. 이를 통하여 결국 대부분 사람에게 인생은 창의 적 사고와 비판적 사고의 균형을 요구하며, 통합적 사고에 대한 열린 교 육으로 이에 대처해 가야 한다는 결론에 이르게 된다.
