This study aims to ethically interpret the performance cheer uniform regulations of the International Cheer Union(ICU) and the Korea Cheerleading Association(KCA) under the theme “An Ethical Review of Uniform Regulations(2): Focusing on Performance Cheer”. This is a research follows previous studies on cheerleading uniform regulations, categorizing the rules into uniforms(costumes), makeup, accessories, and props. It examines these regulations based on the Olympic core values of sportsmanship and fair play. The findings are as follows: First, the performance cheer uniform regulations encourage the expression of a team’s unique personality through artistic creativity, recognizing and respecting diversity and creativity as a form of sportsmanship intrinsic to performance cheer. Second, by reducing unnecessary competition and focusing more on skills and teamwork than appearance, these regulations ensure fairness in the competition and embody the spirit of fair play. This study aims to solidify the position of performance cheer as a sport and hopes to lay the groundwork for its inclusion as an Olympic sport.

본 연구의 목적은 ‘유니폼 규정의 윤리적 고찰(2): 퍼포먼스 치어를 중심으로’라는 주제 아래, 국제치어연맹(ICU)과 대한치어리딩협회(KCA) 의 퍼포먼스 치어 유니폼 규정을 윤리적 접근을 통해 해석하였다. 이는 ‘치어리딩 유니폼 규정’에 관한 선행연구에 이어 후속연구로 진행된 것이다. 유니폼(의상, 선수복장), 메이크업(분장), 액세서리, 소품으로 퍼 포먼스 치어 유니폼 규정을 범주화하였으며, 올림픽의 핵심 가치인 스포 츠맨십과 페어플레이에 기초하여 살펴보았다. 그 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 퍼포먼스 치어 유니폼 규정은 예술성을 통한 팀의 개성있는 표현 을 장려하여 다양성과 창의성을 인정하고 존중한다. 이는 퍼포먼스 치어 의 고유한 특수성을 나타내는 스포츠맨십이다. 둘째, 퍼포먼스 치어 유 니폼 규정은 겉모습보다 실력과 팀워크에 집중할 수 있도록 불필요한 경쟁을 줄임으로써 경기의 공정성을 보장하고, 페어플레이 정신을 실현 한다. 본 연구를 통해 퍼포먼스 치어가 스포츠로써의 위치를 공고히 하 고, 궁극적으로 올림픽 종목으로 나아가는 주춧돌을 마련할 수 있기를 기대한다.
