Police play a crucial role in maintaining public safety and social order. However, frontline police officers often experience significant stress and mental health issues due to heavy workloads and irregular hours, which can sometimes lead to a decline in public trust. These issues are directly related to police violations of human rights, and efforts to address them are currently lacking in our society. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the working environment of frontline police officers, strengthen the division of police roles, reduce workloads, provide mental health support, and explore various measures to improve laws and regulations. To achieve this, relevant laws were reviewed, and problems were identified through the analysis of national agency statistics. Through this research, proposals have been made to restructure police organizations, enhance education and training, revise laws, and strengthen mental health welfare to improve the working environment of frontline police officers.

경찰은 국민의 안전과 사회질서를 유지하는 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있지만, 현 장 경찰관들은 과중한 업무와 불규칙한 근무 시간으로 인해 상당한 스트레스와 정신건강 문제를 겪고 있다. 이로 인해 국민들의 신뢰가 저하되는 경우가 종종 있다. 이러한 문제는 경찰의 인권 침해와도 직접적으로 연결되어 있으며, 현재 우리 사회에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위한 노력이 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현장 경찰의 근무 환경을 조사하고, 경찰의 역할 분담을 강화하 고, 업무 부담을 경감시키며, 정신건강을 지원하고, 법률 및 제도를 개선하는 다양한 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 관련 법령을 검토하고, 국가 기관의 통 계를 분석하여 문제점을 도출하였다. 이 연구를 통해 현장 경찰의 근무 환경을 개선하기 위해 경찰 조직을 재구성하고, 교육과 훈련을 강화하며, 법률을 개정하고, 정신건강 복지를 강화하는 방안을 제시하였다.
