This article aims to identify areas where the arts and legal education intersect and suggest directions. Recently, the importance of values education has been emphasized in law-related education. The use of the arts in law-related education as a way to foster sensitivity, emotion, creativity and imagination has also been emphasized. However, there has been a lack of discussion on what it means to utilize the arts in law-related education, whether it is sufficient, who it can be targeted for, and what types of research can be conducted to support its educational implementation. This article aims to identify the differences between arts-based law-related education and traditional law-related education by examining the importance of not only cognitive but also definitional aspects of values education, and how law-related education and the arts can play a role together. This issue is also related to the nature of interdisciplinary research between law-related education and the arts. Accordingly, this article will (1) examine the importance of values education in law-related education, (2) discuss the significance of law-related education in conjunction with the arts in relation to values education, and (3) discuss the implications of arts-based legal education as interdisciplinary research and the possibility of expanding the ways in which it is connected.

이 연구는 예술과 법교육이 서로 만나고 펼쳐지는 영역을 확인하고 그 방향성을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 최근 법교육에서는 가치교육의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 그리고 감수성, 감정, 창의 력, 상상력 등을 함양하는 방편으로 법교육에서 예술의 활용에 주목하는 연구도 등장하였다. 그러나 왜 법교육에서 예술을 활용한다는 것의 의미는 무엇인지, 그리고 그것으로 충분한 것인지, 누구를 대상으로 할 수 있으며 그 교육적인 실행을 뒷받침하기 위해 어떠한 형태의 연구가 가능할 수 있을지에 대해서는 충분한 논의가 이뤄지지 않았다고 할 수 있다. 이 연구에서는 가치교육에서 인 지적인 영역만이 아니라 정의적인 영역의 중요성을 살펴보고, 법교육과 예술이 함께 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는지를 살펴봄으로써 예술을 기반으로 한 법교육이 기존의 법교육과 갖는 차별성에 대해 밝히고자 하였다. 이 문제는 법교육과 예술 사이의 학제 간 연구의 성격을 어떻게 보아야 할 것인 가와도 관련이 있다. 그에 따라 (1) 법교육에서 가치교육이 갖는 중요성이 무엇인지를 살펴보고, (2) 예술과 함께 하는 법교육이 가치교육과 관련하여 갖는 의의에 대해 고찰한 다음, (3) 학제간연 구로서 예술을 기반으로 한 법교육의 의미와 그 연결방식에의 확장 가능성에 대해 타진해보고자 한다.
