This paper analyzes the effect of households' expected national pension income on private education expenditure using the National Tax Benefit Survey (NaSTaB) from 2014 to 2021. The results show that expected national pension income is positively significant in private education expenditure. This suggests that children's private education expenditure is recognized as an investment in human capital. It may be the consumption behavior of households who spend too much on private education. This study provides implications for the income replacement rate of the national pension and means that private education expenditures should lead to human capital development and productivity improvement.

본 연구는 재정패널의 2014-2021년 자료를 이용하여 가구의 예상 국민연금소득이 자녀의 사교육비 지출에 미치는 영향을 실증 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 국민연금 예상 수령액은 사교육비 지출에 양의 방향으로 유의하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 자녀의 사교육비 지출을 미래 인적 자본에 대한 투자로 인식하여 나타난 결과라고 볼 수 있다. 또는 경제적 여건을 고려하지 않고 과도한 사교육비 지출을 하는 가구의 소비 행태가 반영된 결과일 수 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 고령화 사회에서 노후의 경제적 안정을 달성하고자 국민연금의 소득대체율 조정 방향을 논의하는 데에 시사점을 제공한다. 또한 자녀의 사교육비 지출이 가계의 부담으로 작용하는 것이 아니라 인적 자본의 질적 증대와 생산성 향상으로 이어지는 정책의 설계와 추진이 필요함을 보여준다.
