This study focused on consolation through Korean language as an important issue that must be taught in Korean language education. This is because in language education, ‘What is the learner doing through language and what should be done?’ is important. Korean letters can show the history of Korean life in the Korean language community well. In this study, , the Changwon Hwang family’s Korean letter, and the Keimyung University collection were the subjects of the study. And among them, letters containing the situation of the consolidation were analyzed and educational use of the letters was proposed. In Chapter 2, previous studies were analyzed, the concept of the Consolation discourse was established, and the Consolation Strategy analysis framework was systematized. Chapter 3 analyzes the situation of the consolidation and the relationship between the recipient and the sender in Korean letters in the Joseon Dynasty, and analyzes the comfort strategy and grammatical characteristics. Finally, Chapter 4 proposed an educational plan for the Korean letter conclusion discourse based on the 2022 revised Korean language curriculum.

본 연구는 국어교육학에서 다루어야 할 중요한 문제가 ‘학습자는 언어를 통해 무 엇을 하고 있으며, 무엇을 해야 하는가?’로 집약된다는 관점에서 언어를 통한 위로 행 위에 주목하였다. 언어공동체의 국어생활사를 잘 보여줄 수 있는 한글편지 가운데 <현풍곽씨언간>, 조선후기 창원황씨 문중 한글 간찰, 조선후기 계명대 소장본 <언간 독>을 연구 대상으로 삼아 위로 상황이 담긴 편지들을 분석하여 교육적 활용방안을 모색하였다. 2장에서는 선행 연구를 바탕으로 위로 담화의 개념을 정립하고 위로 전 략 분석 틀을 체계화 하였으며 3장에서는 조선시대 한글편지에 나타난 위로 상황 및 수․발신자의 관계를 중심으로 위로 전략과 관련된 주요 어휘와 문법적인 특징들을 분석하고 마지막으로 4장에서는 2022개정 국어과 교육과정을 토대로 중등교육에서 한글편지 위로 담화의 활용방안을 제안하였다.
