This study aimed to analyze psychological changes of UXO-induced amputees residing in Houaphanh Province, Laos, who underwent art therapy, through pre- and post-tests of self-esteem and PTSD. The self-esteem test utilized a modified and supplemented version of Rosenberg's Scale, while the PTSD assessment consisted of 40 items developed by the researchers based on DSM-5 criteria. The study involved 18 participants and was conducted from February 2022 to January 2023. For the research, the investigators stayed in Laos for three months, conducting pre-therapy psychological assessments, three sessions of art therapy, and post-therapy psychological assessments. The results revealed an improvement in self-esteem and alleviation of PTSD symptoms after three sessions of art therapy. Based on these findings, it was concluded that art therapy is an effective approach for inducing positive psychological changes in UXO-induced amputees. However, the study's limitation lies in the short duration of art therapy sessions, thus limiting generalizability. Therefore, it is recommended that the results of this study be utilized as a basis for the activation of art therapy programs tailored for UXO-induced amputees, utilizing self-esteem and PTSD clinical data.

본 연구는 라오스 후아판주에 거주하는 UXO 피해 절단장애인들을 대상으로 미술치료를 통한 심리적 변 화를 분석하기 위해 사전, 사후 자아존중감 및 PTSD 검사를 실시하여 심리적 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 자아 존중감 검사는 Rosenberg의 검사지를 수정·보완하여 사용하였고, PTSD검사지는 DSM-5의 진단기준에 맞추어 연구자가 총 40문항으로 개발하였다. 연구대상은 18명이며 2022년 2월부터 2023년 1월까지 진행되었다. 연구 를 위해 연구자가 라오스에 3개월을 체류하여 진행하였으며, 사전 심리검사, 미술치료 3회기, 사후 심리검사를 진행하였다. 연구결과 미술치료 3회기 후 자아존중감은 향상되었고, PTSD증상도 호전됨을 확인하였다. 이상의 연구결과에 따라 UXO 피해 절단장애인들에게도 미술치료가 긍정적인 심리변화에 효과적인 접근방법임을 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만 본 연구는 미술치료의 짧은 회기로 일반화하기에 한계점은 존재한다. 본 연구의 결과가 UXO 피해 절단장애인들의 자아존중감, PTSD임상자료 기초로 활용되어 UXO피해 절단장애인을 위한 미술치료 프로그 램이 활성화될 수 있기를 제언한다.
