This article aims to understand the practices of the government and various agents in the art world regarding the societal acceptance of artworks. To do so, this study constructed a theoretical background based on discussions about the sociology of art, focusing on the literature on the government's support, control, and intervention in art and artists, and the process by which intermediaries in the art world construct consensus on the works of art. Afterwards, this study considered the 85 New Wave as a single case and collected historical data from various sources. Particularly, this study focused on the process by which the 85 New Wave, which was formed from changes in China's political environment in the 1980s, was socially embraced. As a result of the analysis, the government's intervention in the formation of the 85 New Wave and the main actors (art schools, critics, curators) located in the process of establishing legitimacy for the works of art and artists belonging to the movement were captured. Based on this, this paper has academic significance in that it discusses the impact of national policies and the political environment on agents in the art world.

본 논문은 예술작품의 사회적 수용에 관한 정부와 다양한 예술계 구성원의 행위를 이해하는 것에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, 본 연구는 예술 사회학적 논의를 기반으로 예술과 예술가에 관한 정부의 지원, 통제, 개입에 관한 문헌과 미술계의 매개인력이 작품에 관한 합의를 도출하는 과정을 중심으로 이론적 배경을 구성하였다. 이후, 본 연구는 85 미술운동을 단일 사례로 여겨, 다양한 출처의 역사적 자료를 수집하였다. 특히, 본 연구는 80년대 중국 정치 환경의 변화로부터 형성된 85 미술운동이 사회적으로 수용되는 과정을 중점적으로 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 85 미술운동의 형성 과정에서 정부의 개입과 해당 운동에 속한 작품과 작가의 정당성을 마련하는 과정에 위치한 주요 행위자(예술 학교, 비평가, 전시기획자)를 포착하였다. 이를 바탕으로, 본 논문은 국가의 정책과 정치적 환경이 예술계 행위자에 미치는 영향을 논의했다는 측면에서 학술적 의의를 지닌다.
