This study conducted an exploratory research to explore the growth and development of classical music performance by identifying the value system pursued by the audience. The audience's value pursuit system consists of attributes-consequences-values associations of classical music performance, and the means-end chain theory(MEC) was used to analyze this. Therefore, in this study as an exploratory study on the value pursuit system of classical music performance audiences, applied a soft laddering technique based on in-depth interviews to 23 audiences residing in the metropolitan area. As a result of the study, the main value pursuit system of classical music performance audience was [cast - enjoyment of artistic beauty - self-fulfillment]. In addition, it turns out that the value pursue system of a classical music majoring group is different from that of non-majoring group. Based on an in-depth understanding of the audience for classical music performances, this study laid the foundation to efficiently provide performances that correspond to the audience's needs. Through audience-centered performance planning and production, it will develop the audience and further contribute to the establishment of a self-sustaining virtuous cycle in the classical performance field.

본 연구는 클래식 음악공연 관객이 추구하는 가치체계를 규명하여 클래식 공연계의 성장과 발전을 모색할 수 있는 탐색적 연구를 수행하였다. 관객의 가치추구체계는 클래식 음악공연의 속성-혜택-가치로 구성되며, 이를 분석하기 위하여 수단-목적 사슬 이론(MEC)을 활용하였다. 이에 본 연구는 클래식 음악공연 관객의 가치추구체계에 대한 탐색적 연구로서 수도권에 거주하는 관객 23명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰 기반의 소프트래더링 기법을 적용하였다. 연구 결과, 클래식 음악공연 관객의 주요 가치추구체계는 [출연진–예술적 아름다움 향유–자아실현]으로 나타났다. 또한, 클래식 음악공연 관객의 특성인 전공 여부에 따른 가치추구체계를 비교, 분석한 결과, 서로 상이한 가치추구체계를 나타내고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 클래식 음악공연 관객에 대한 심층적인 이해를 바탕으로 관객의 요구에 상응하는 공연을 효율적으로 제공하기 위한 기반을 마련하였다. 관객 중심의 공연기획 및 제작을 통해 관객을 개발하고, 나아가 클래식 공연계의 자생적인 선순환 구조 확립에 기여할 것이다.
