It is necessary for interdisciplinary study in Korean traditional music and Korean premodern literature to rediscover the tradition that those have been in unity. As a fundamental task of interdisciplinary studies in those two academic disciplines, the mutual communication system and the common research subjects between the two studies could be suggested. Interdisciplinary education of Korean traditional music and Korean premodern literature could have various tasks according to the educational system and curriculum, but the matter is practice.

국악 연구와 국문학 연구의 학제간 연구는 국악과 국문학이 일체(一體)로 존재해 왔던 전통을 재인식하는 데서 시작된다. 국문학 연구의 대상인 시(詩)와 국악 연구의 대상인 가(歌)가 ‘시가(詩 歌) 일체(一體)’로 존재해 왔으나, 근대문학에서 가(歌)와 분리된 시(詩), 즉 국문시가 창작되고, 근 대 대학의 분과학문 체제에서 각각을 분리하여 연구하게 되었던 것이다. 국악 연구와 국문학 연구의 학제간 연구의 기본 과제로는 소통 통로와 공동의 의제를 마련하는 것을 들 수 있다. 예컨대, 판소리 사설과 음악에 대한 두 분과학문의 해석들 사이의 소통 통로 구축과 판소리 음악의 의미와 판소리 사설의 의미의 관계 등을 공동 의제로 설정할 수 있다. 국악과 국문학의 학제적 교육은 교육 제도와 각급 학교 교과과정을 중심으로 다양한 과제들을 설정할 수 있는데, 가장 중요한 것은 학문후속세대 양성과 교양교육에서의 실천이라고 본다.
