This study aims to develop endangered species-related fashion designs based on considerations of these animals and case studies on the fashion industry's practices to help raise awareness of these animals and contribute to academia by advancing animal-friendly outfoor fashion design. Research methods are literature review, case study, and fashion design. The study examined the relationships between humans and animals and what caused animals to be on the verge of crisis. It also investigated the theoretical backgrounds of endangered species and the classification standards of these animals. Case studies on animal-friendly design were classified and analyzed into cases that appeared in the overall design and in the fashion industry, and the value and characteristics of animal-friendly design were discussed. Based on theoretical backgrounds, the study drew a concept of camping with wild animals from the Galapagos Islands, an animal-friendly backdrop. Four lifestyle outdoor fashion outfits consisting of windbreakers, poncho, and pants were developed by selecting sperm whales of mammals, blue sea turtles of reptiles, and seahorses of fish among endangered species. This study draw theoretical considerations of endangered species and developed fashion designs based on animal-friendly design cases in modern fashion to remind us of the pursuit of social value and expand inspiration for fashion designs. The research expressed harmony between humans and animals in outdoor wear and pursued symbiotic connections to each other, including endangered species. The study has implications about increased awareness of social responsibility and the spread of value consumption and it provides fundamental data for related studies.

본 연구는 멸종위기 동물에 대한 고찰과 패션산업의 실천에 대한 사례 연구를 바탕으로 멸종위기 동물을 적용한 패션디자인을 개발하여 멸종위기 동물에 관한 관심 제고와 동물 친화적 패션디자인 개발의 폭을 넓히 는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구 방법으로는 문헌 연구, 사례 연구, 작품 개발 연구이다. 멸종위기 동물에 대한 이론적 고찰을 통해 멸종위기 동물의 발생 요인과 위기 등급 지정 및 분류 기준을 문헌 연구하였다. 동물 친화적 디자인에 대한 사례 연구는 디자인 전반에 나타난 사례와 패션산업에 나타난 사례로 분류하여 분석하 였으며, 동물 친화적 디자인의 가치와 특징에 대하여 논의하였다. 이론적 배경을 기반으로 동물 친화적 배경 인 갈라파고스 제도를 배경과 ‘야생 동물과의 캠핑’의 콘셉트를 설정하고 멸종위기 동물 중 포유류의 향유고 래, 파충류의 푸른바다거북, 어류의 해마를 선정하여 윈드브레이커, 판초, 팬츠 등으로 구성된 라이프스타일 아웃도어 패션 4착장을 개발 및 제작하였다. 본 연구는 멸종위기 동물에 대한 이론적 고찰과 현대 패션의 동물 친화적 디자인 사례를 바탕으로 라이프스타일 아웃도어 패션디자인을 개발함으로써 패션의 사회적 가 치 추구 의지를 상기시키고 동시에 패션디자인 영감의 폭을 확장하고자 진행되었다. 인간과 동물의 공생 관계 를 추구하고 사회적 책임 인식 제고와 가치 소비의 확산에 영향을 끼치는 데 기여하며, 관련 연구를 위한 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 가진다.
