This paper examined the writing and directionality about Confucian Ritual of the Joseon through a review of Confucian Ritual writing contained in high school Korean history textbooks. First of all, quantity, period classification, characteristic of the description about the Joseon and Confucian Ritual writings were analyzed in the national Korean history textbook and the current Korean history textbook. According to the analysis of this paper, the national textbooks emphasized development and explained the Joseon. Also, these described Confucian Ritual centering on political and cultural. On the other hand, the current textbook described the Joseon simply. Besides Confucian Ritual was followed or reduced from the existing interpretation of political history, but an explanation was added to the footnote. Until now, the tendency of Korean history textbooks has a common limitation of bias in description. Therefore, this paper believes that it is necessary to interpret Confucian Ritual culturally. The cultural history interpretation of Confucian rituals is to explain rituals as part of Confucian culture in the realm of social history or life history of the Joseon. For this, it is essential to revitalize not only textbooks but also related research.

본고는 고등학교 한국사 교과서에 수록된 조선시대 의례 기록 고찰을 통해 의례서술의 양상과 방향성에 대하여 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 교육과정기(1차～7차) 한국사 교과서와 현행 한국사 교과서에서 조선시대 기록의 분량, 시기 구분, 서술의 성격, 의례 기록을 분석하였다. 본고의 분석에 따르면, 교육과정기 교과서는 통시적으로 발전을 강조하며 조선시대를 설명하였고 의례를 정치사와 문화사 중심으로 서술하였다. 한편 현행 교과서는 조선시대를 간소하게 언급하였고 의례를 기존의 정치사적 해석을 답습하거나 축소하되 각주에 설명을 추가하였다. 현재까지 한국사 교과서의 조선시대 의례 서술 경향에는 서술의 편향성이라는 공통된 한계점이 있다. 교육과정기 교과서는 정치사, 문화사로 치우쳐졌다면, 현행교과서는 정치사로 편향되었다. 이에 본고는 정치사 위주의 서술 편향성을 극복하기 위해 문화사적으로 유교 의례를 해석하는 것이 필요하다고 본다. 유교 의례의 문화사적 해석은 조선시대 사회사 혹은 생활사의 영역에서 유교 문화의 일환으로 의례를 설명하는 것이다. 사회사가 조선 사회의 신분제도와 향촌 지배 질서의 변화를 다루고 생활사는 그 서술이 없어진 상황을 고려하면, 현재 우리의 삶에도 남아있는 유교 의례를 문화사적으로 해석하여 사회사 혹은 생활사의 측면에서 강조해야 한다. 이를 위해 교과서뿐 아니라 유관 연구의 활성화가 반드시 필요하다.
