This study aimed to shed light on a specific mechanism that explains the relationship between dating violence and depression symptoms. Based on previous studies and literature review, we proposed full and partial mediational models in which intrusive rumination would mediate the relationship between dating violence and depression symptoms. Two hundred thirty-seven women of their 20s who suffered from dating violence completed self-report inventories of dating violence, intrusive rumination, and depression symptoms online. Results from structural equation analysis supported the partial mediation model. In this model, all path coefficients were significant, and the indirect effect through intrusive rumination was also significant. These results suggest that dating violence not only directly affects depression symptoms, but also indirectly through the mediation of intrusive ruminations. In addition, the results regarding the relationship between subtypes of dating violence and intrusive rumination and depressive symptoms, as well as the mediating role of intrusive rumination, showed different patterns by subtype. Lastly, the implications and limitations of this study are discussed.

본 연구는 데이트 폭력 피해와 우울증상의 관계를 설명하는 구체적인 기제를 규명하기 위하여 수행되었다. 선행연구들과 문헌 리뷰에 기초하여, 이러한 관계를 설명하는 구체적인 기제 로서 침습적 반추의 매개역할을 상정하였으며, 구조방정식 분석을 사용하여 그 역할을 검증 하기 위하여 완전매개모형과 부분매개모형을 설정하였다. 데이트 폭력 피해 경험이 있는 20 대 여성 237명이 온라인 설문조사를 통해 데이트 폭력 피해, 침습적 반추 및 우울증상을 측 정하는 자기보고형 척도들을 작성하였다. 구조방정식 분석 결과, 부분매개모형이 지지되었다. 이 모형에서 모든 경로계수가 유의하였으며, 침습적 반추를 통한 간접효과도 유의하였다. 이 결과들은 데이트 폭력 피해가 우울증상에 대해 직접 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 침습적 반추의 매개를 거쳐서 간접적으로도 영향을 미친다는 점을 시사한다. 추가로, 데이트 폭력의 하위 유 형별로 침습적 반추 및 우울증상과의 관계, 그리고 침습적 반추의 매개역할에 관한 결과는 상이한 양상을 보였다. 끝으로, 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 관해 논의하였다.
