The Korean church has demonstrated special interests in cross-cultural missions and has actively sent missionaries since its early and developmental stages. Despite the dedicated efforts of Korean single women missionaries, they have often faced marginalization in terms of the Korean church’s supports, attention, and care from the Korean church and mission organizations. This study aims to explore the spiritual, mental, and social resources, as well as the vulnerbilities of single Korean female missionaries. It seeks to address the need for holistic and systematic pastoral care and member care intervention. To conduct effective research, a literature review methodology was employed, analyzing and reflecting on various documents reporting the ministry experiences and lives of single female missionaries. Consequently, this study examines their strengths and vulnerbilities from a pastoral and theological perspective, aiming to propose directions for effective and systematic member care. Single Korean female missionaries possess strengths such as dedication, professionalism, and flexibility; however, they also face biases from others and emotional instability. Kelly O’Donnell and Laura Mae Gardner’s member care theory views the provision of spiritual, physical, emotional, relational, and practical support as a systematic and ongoing investment from the selection of missionaries to their retirement, encompassing missionaries, families, and support staff. Larry Graham’s psychosystematic care theory emphasizes the interconnectedness of six factors: experience, person, family, society, nature, culture, and nature. To practically implement member care and psychosystematic care for single female missionaries, the Korean church and missionary organizations should offer continuous and systematic support throughout their entire life cycle within the member care system.

한국교회는 태동기부터 성장과 함께 타문화권 선교에 특별한 관심과 선교사 파송에 많은 노력을 기울여 왔다. 한국교회와 선교단체에서 파송된 독신 여성 선교사들의 활발한 선교활동에도 불구하고 교회의 후원과 관심, 돌봄에서 소외되어 왔다. 본 연구는 한인 독신 여성 선교사의 영적, 정신 적, 사회적 자원을 비롯한 강점(Strength)과 취약성(vulnerability)에 대해 탐색하고 전인적이고 체계적인 목회 돌봄과 멤버케어를 위한 효과적인 개 입을 다루고자 한다. 효과적인 연구 진행을 위해 독신 여성 선교사의 사역 경험과 삶을 보고하는 다양한 문헌을 분석하고 고찰하는 문헌연구방법론 을 사용하였다. 이에 따라 독신 여성 선교사의 선교적 자원과 취약성을 목 회 신학적으로 성찰하고 효과적인 심리적 지원과 체계적 돌봄을 위한 방향 을 제시하고자 한다. 한인 독신 여성 선교사는 헌신성과 전문성, 유연성의 장점을 지니고 있으며 독신 여성 선교사에 대한 타인의 편견, 정서적 불안 정에 노출되어 있다. 켈리 오도넬과 로라 매 가드너의 멤버케어 이론은 선 교사의 선발부터 은퇴까지 선교사와 가족, 지원스텝을 포괄하여 영적, 신 체적, 정서적, 관계적, 실현적 지원을 체계적이고 지속적으로 제공하는 자 원투자로 보았다. 래리 그래함은 심리체계적 돌봄 이론에서 경험, 개인, 가 족, 사회, 자연, 문화의 6가지 요소가 상호적이고 유기적으로 연결되어 있 음을 강조하였다. 독신 여성 선교사를 위한 멤버케어와 심리체계적 돌봄을 실천적으로 적용하기 위해서 멤버케어 시스템 안에서 전 생애 과정에 걸친 지속적이고 체계적인 돌봄을 한국교회와 선교기관이 제공해야 한다
