This study aims to examine the importance of the dignity of the elderly and ways to improve the law to promote it and to suggest ways to overcome elderly poverty. To solve this serious social problem, it is necessary to raise awareness of the dignity of the elderly and to improve the system. Avishai Margalit's concept of a decent society and Christian teaching can help to provide a theoretical basis for this. On this basis, the church must focus on the ethical reflection of laws that can contribute to improving the situation of poverty. The church must be concerned to achieve distributive justice and to improve employment opportunities and working conditions. These legal ethical efforts will help to overcome elderly poverty and to promote a decent society in which the dignity of the elderly is respected.

본 논문은 노인 존엄성의 중요성과 그 증진을 위한 법의 개선 방향을 탐구하고, 이를 바탕으로 노인 빈곤의 극복 방안을 제시하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 심각한 사회 문제인 노인 빈곤의 해결을 위해서는 노인의 존엄 성에 대한 인식과 제도의 개선이 이뤄져야 한다. 이를 위한 이론적 근거의 정립에 아비샤이 마갈릿의 품위 있는 사회의 구상과 기독교 신앙의 이해가 기여할 수 있다. 이 기초 위에서 교회는 빈곤 상황의 개선에 도움을 줄 수 있는 법에 대한 윤리적 성찰에 진력해야 한다. 특히 분배의 정의가 실현되 고, 노동의 기회와 노동 조건의 개선이 현실화되는 데 관심을 가져야 한다. 이러한 법윤리적 노력은 노인 빈곤의 극복과 노인 존엄성의 존중이 구현되 는 품위 있는 사회의 형성에 공헌하게 될 것이다.
