This study unearthed ecological folktales from folktales and experiences from various Asian countries, analyzed the ecological consciousness contained therein, and discussed how to respond to current problems such as the relationship between humans and nature, the environment, and disasters. Chapter Ⅱ presents a direction to discover Asian ecological folktales about the concepts of “disaster and ecology” and “humans and nature” from folktales and experiences. Chapter III discusses the following three directions under the concept of “reconciliation between humans and nature”: 1) restoration and preservation of nature and ecosystem, 2) respect for life and coexistence of animals, and 3) reflection on the violence of self-centered civilization and coexistence, In a reality where environmental and ecological problems and ethnic conflicts are becoming more serious, reading and researching Asian ecological folktales will contribute to promoting mutual understanding and ecological sensitivity among Asians.

이 연구는 아시아 생태설화의 제재와 생태미학, ‘인간과 자연의 화해’를 위한 설 화 연구방향을 규명하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 민담과 경험담에서 ‘재난과 생태’, ‘인간과 자연’ 관계를 제재로 하는 아시아 생태설화 작품들을 발굴하는 방안을 제시하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 아시아 생태설화의 생태미학을 규명하였으며, 생태설화의 연구방향을, 1) 자연․생태계의 회복과 보존, 2) 동물에 대한 생명존중과 공생, 3) 자기중심적 문명의 폭력성 성찰과 소수집단 문화의 보전, 세 가지 방향에서 제시하였다. 환 경․생태 문제가 악화되며 민족적 갈등이 심각해지는 아시아에서, 생태설화 발굴 및 연구는 아시아인의 상호이해 및 생태적 감수성을 증진시키는 데 기여할 것이다.
