This study addresses the gap in understanding users’ perceptions of product attributes in the context of wearable devices, particularly focusing on fitness trackers in the healthcare sector. The research employs a four-phase process, including item generation, modification, survey data collection, and analysis for developing a psychological measure of users’ perceived functional congruence of fitness trackers. The study introduces a second-order construct with four first-order factors: ease of use, practicability, compatibility, and durability. This extends the concept of functional congruence from traditional products to high-tech applications, making it one of the first to conceptualize and measure functional congruence in the context of fitness trackers. The findings also offer practical implications for designing fitness trackers.

웨어러블 기기에 대한 학계와 산업계의 관심은 최근 더욱 증대되고 있다. 이전 연구 들은 주로 웨어러블 기기의 기술적 발전에 중점을 두었지만 제품 속성에 대한 사용자 의 인식을 이해하는 데는 부족한 부분이 있었다. 건강 분야에서 웨어러블 기기의 대표 적인 응용 프로그램으로 피트니스 추적 장치가 부상하면서, 본 연구에서는 사용자들이 피트니스 추적 장치의 기능적 일치성을 어떻게 인식하는지에 대한 심리적 측정 도구를 개발하고 검증하고자 한다. 측정 항목 생성, 수정, 설문 자료 수집 및 분석, 그리고 마 지막으로 측정 검증을 포함한 체계적인 4단계 과정을 통해 피트니스 추적 장치에 대한 사용자들의 기능적 일치성을 측정하는 도구를 개발하였다. 마지막으로, 사용자들의 피 트니스 추적 장치 기능적 일치성에 대한 지각된 2차 구조와 사용자의 편의성, 실용성, 호환성 및 내구성 등 4개의 1차 요인이 도출되었다. 본 연구는 기존 제품의 기능적 일 치성 개념을 전통적인 제품에서 고급 기술 응용 프로그램으로 확장하는 데 기여한다. 더불어, 이 연구는 피트니스 추적 장치의 기능적 일치성을 처음으로 개념화하고 측정 한 연구 중의 하나이다. 피트니스 추적 장치 디자인에 관한 실무자들을 위한 실용적인 시사점도 논의하였다. 하지만, 본 연구는 자료가 온라인으로 모집되었다는 점과 피트니 스 추적 장치를 가지고 있는 사용자들만을 대상으로 하였다는 점에서 한계점도 존재한 다. 따라서, 향후 후속 연구에서는 도출된 결과를 보다 일반화하는 노력이 필요하다.
