This study aims to verify whether the PTSD risk group differs according to the socio-demographic characteristics of Korea Coast Guard Officers and derive policy implications for PTSD status survey and improvement based on this. To this end, we reviewed previous studies on socio-demographic characteristics that differ in the PTSD risk group and previous studies on PTSD characteristics of (land) police officials and firefighters performing similar tasks to Korea Coast Guard Officers. Based on the results of the review, the difference between PTSD risk groups and socio-demographic characteristics of Korea Coast Guard Officers was verified through a chi-square test using survey data conducted by Dongguk University at the request of the Korea Coast Guard in 2022. As a result, it was the age group that showed statistically significant differences in the PTSD risk group among the socio-demographic characteristics. In other words, it is necessary to issue a personnel appointment in consideration of at least the age group at workplaces where many traumatic events can be experienced when placing workplaces. In addition, the data used in this study have limitations in closely identifying variables that may affect PTSD in addition to socio-demographic characteristics, so we propose the implementation of a detailed status survey.

이 연구는 해양경찰공무원의 PTSD 위험군에 있어서 인구사회학적 특성에 따라 차이가 있는지를 확인한 후, 이에 대한 개선점 및 정책적 제언 도출을 목적으로 한 다. 이를 위해 경찰 및 소방공무원 등의 PTSD 특성에 대한 선행연구를 검토하였으 며, 2022년 해양경찰청의 의뢰로 동국대학교 산학협력단에서 수행한 설문조사 자료를 활용하여 해양경찰공무원의 PTSD 위험군과 인구사회학적 특성에 대한 차이를 교차 분석(chi-square test)으로 검증하였다. 그 결과 인구사회학적 특성 중 PTSD 위험군 에 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 보인 것은 연령대였다. 즉, 근무지 배치 시 충격적 사건을 다수 경험할 수 있는 근무지에는 최소한 연령대를 고려하여 인사발령을 낼 필요가 있다. 또한, 이 연구에서 활용한 자료에서는 인구사회학적 특성 외에 PTSD 에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 변수를 면밀하게 확인하는 데 한계가 있는바, 이에 대한 구 체적인 현황조사 이행을 제안한다.
