This paper examines the poetry selection standards and poetry selection reality as reflected in Daedong Siseon[大東詩選] edited by Min Baeksun and references the criteria and actual selections in a discussion of the poetic historical significance of Daedong Siseon. The poetry selection criteria Ahn Seok-kyung [安錫儆] proposed and the actual selection of poetry can be summarized as follows. First, selecting works with a variety of styles is necessary to avoid being limited to 溫柔敦厚. Based on this criterion, even if the channel of personal emotions is somewhat far from 溫柔敦厚, works that portray true emotions were actively selected. Second, we must select poems that originate from the 道心and conform to the principles [理]. Following this criterion, a large number of works that connect the 天理of the scene before one's eyes and embody the intellectual excitement expressed therein were selected. Third, in the interest of diversity, we should depart from the Chinese people's taste for Tang poetry [唐詩] and also select poems from the Song style [宋風] that our predecessors revered. According to this criterion, in addition to Tang Feng’s [唐 風] sentimental poems, a number of Song Feng’s [宋風] poems that theoretically embody spiritual awakening and philosophical contemplation were also selected. Fourth, we should not be limited to a single formality; rather, we should choose a variety of areas in which the writer has demonstrated skill. Based on this criterion, we avoided selecting works strictly based on Tang Feng’s [唐風] retro style in favor of selecting works that best reveal the author’s true character and personality in various ways. Fifth, works that express loyalty should be selected. Based on this criterion, a number of works that express strong loyalty to the Ming dynasty and clearly demonstrate Joseon writers’strong spirits were selected. Daedong Siseonwas planned and compiled to showcase Joseon’s cultural capabilities by presenting Chinese intellectuals with the essence of poetry in the late Joseon dynasty. This collection of poems confirms the direction and reality of the reform of poetry in the late Joseon dynasty, and it is therefore a valuable work that must be studied continuously.

이 논문은 민백순이 편찬한 『大東詩選』의 選詩 기준과 선시의 實際를 살피고 그것을 통해 『대동시선』의 詩史的 의의를 조망한 것이다. 안석경이 제안한 선시 의 기준과 그에 따른 선시의 실제는 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있다. 첫째, 溫柔敦厚에만 국한되지 말고 다양한 風格의 작품들을 선발해야 한다. 이 러한 기준에 의해 다소 개인적인 감정의 유로가 돈유돈후와 다소 거리가 있더라도 眞情을 드러낸 작품이면 적극적으로 선발하였다. 둘째, 道心에서 발하여 理에 부합한 시를 선발해야 한다. 이 기준을 따라 눈앞 의 경물에서 天理를 體認하고 거기서 발현된 理智的 흥취를 형상화한 작품들을 대거 선발하였다. 셋째, 중국인들의 唐詩 애호 취향만 따르지 말고 우리 선배들이 숭상한 宋風의 시도 선발해야 한다. 이 기준을 따라 정감을 중시하는 당풍의 시 외에도 정신적 각성과 철학적 사색을 의론적으로 형상화한 송풍의 시도 다수 선발되었다. 넷째, 한 가지 격식에 구애되지 말고 작가의 잘하는 바를 다양하게 선발해야 한 다. 이 기준에 의해 복고파의 당풍 일변도의 작품 선발을 지양하고 작가의 본색이 가장 잘 드러나는 작품, 그리고 작가의 개성이 다양하게 드러나는 작품들을 선발 하였다. 다섯째, 춘추의 의리가 표현된 작품을 선발해야 한다. 이 기준에 의해 강렬한 대명의리를 표출하고, 조선 문인의 강개한 기상이 잘 드러난 작품들이 다수 선발 되었다. 『대동시선』은 중국의 문사들에게 조선후기 한시의 정수를 선보임으로써 조선의 문화적 역량을 보이기 위해 기획, 편찬된 것으로, 이 시선집의 존재를 통해 우리는 조선후기 한시 쇄신의 방향과 실상을 확인할 수 있다는 점에서 부단히 연구되어야 할 귀중한 저술이라 할 것이다.
