The purpose of this study is to examine the changes in uniform design of Korean Air flight attendants and verify whether the change in uniform design is related to the fashion culture of the time. The scope of the study is Korean Air flight attendant uniforms from the 1960s to early 1970s, and the research method is literature-based. As a result of the study, the first uniform was influenced by the trend of the times of ‘total looks’- formed with a beret, jacket, and miniskirt in one color. The second uniform was a bell-shaped croche hat and a shorter miniskirt dress. The 3rd uniform was a pillbox hat popularized by U.S. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and an A-line skirt that was popular around the world. Scarves, which are considered essential items for flight attendant uniforms, appeared for the first time in the 4th uniform. Uniforms were influenced by the world's fashion culture, but were reflected late due to the circumstances of the times. As a practical implication, various measures were proposed to utilize the previous uniforms, which are the legacy of airlines. The academic implication is that the research horizon has been expanded through the convergence between fashion and aviation service disciplines. Future research projects include the timing of wearing uniforms that do not coincide with previous studies, the discovery of undetermined uniform designers, the transition of uniforms since the late 1970s, and comparative analysis with uniforms of other airlines, including Asiana Airlines, is proposed as a future research project.

이 연구의 목적은 대한항공 승무원 유니폼 변천을 고찰하여 유니폼 디자인의 변화가 당대 패션 문화와 연관이 있는가를 검증하는 것이다. 연구의 범위는 1960년대~1970년 대 초반의 대한항공 승무원 유니폼이며, 연구 방법은 문헌적 연구이다. 연구 결과, 1기 유니폼은 토털 룩의 시대적 패션 문화의 영향을 받아 베레모, 재킷, 미니스커트가 한 가 지 색상으로 이루어졌다. 2기 유니폼은 종(鐘) 모양의 크로슈 해트(cloche hat)와 더 짧 아진 미니스커트 원피스였다. 3기 유니폼은 미국 영부인 재클린 케네디가 유행시킨 필 박스(pillbox) 모자에 세계적으로 유행하던 A라인 치마였다. 4기 유니폼에는 승무원 유니폼의 필수 아이템으로 생각하는 스카프가 처음으로 등장했다. 대한항공 초기 유니 폼은 세계 패션 문화의 영향을 받았으나 시대적 상황으로 늦게 반영되었다. 실무적 차 원의 시사점으로 항공사의 유산인 역대 유니폼을 활용하는 여러 가지 방안을 제안했 다. 학문적 시사점은 패션과 항공서비스 학문 간 융합으로 연구 지평을 넓힌 점이다. 선행연구 간 일치하지 않는 유니폼 착용 시기와 밝혀지지 않은 유니폼 디자이너 발굴, 1970년대 후반 이후의 대한항공 유니폼 변천, 아시아나항공을 비롯한 타항공사의 유니폼들과의 대한항공 유니폼과의 비교분석 등을 향후 연구과제로 제안한다.
