This study aims to understand the impact and structure of the relationship between content engagement and media addiction among OTT service users, and how these factors affect their sleep quality and overall quality of life. It focuses on the pivotal role of OTT services in modern society’s consumption and provision of media content. The study involved a deliberate sample of 360 males and females aged between teens and fifties, who use OTT services. An online survey was conducted to test the hypotheses and research model set in this study, leading to the following conclusions. First, as content engagement among OTT service users increased, so did media addiction. Second, as media addiction intensified, the quality of sleep deteriorated. Third, as the quality of sleep worsened, the overall quality of life improved. These findings suggest various implications for developing intervention strategies for the proper use of OTT services.

본 연구는 현대사회의 미디어 콘텐츠 소비 및 제공의 핵심인 OTT 서비스와 관련하 여, OTT 서비스 이용자의 콘텐츠 몰입과 미디어 중독이 그들의 수면과 삶의 질에 미치 는 영향과 구조를 파악하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 OTT 서비스를 이용하고 있는 10 대-50대 남녀 360명을 대상으로 의도적 표집을 통해 온라인 설문 조사를 진행하여 본 연구에서 설정한 가설과 연구 모형을 검증하였으며, 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, OTT 서비스 이용자의 콘텐츠 몰입이 증가할수록 미디어 중독이 증가하였다. 둘 째, OTT 서비스 이용자의 미디어 중독이 심해질수록 수면의 질은 저하되었다. 셋째, OTT 서비스 이용자의 수면의 질이 저하될수록 삶의 질은 증가하였다. 이러한 연구결 과는 OTT 서비스 이용자의 올바른 이용을 위한 다양한 중재전략을 개발하는데 시사점 을 줄 것이다.
