The mission among migrant workers in Korea requires an understanding of migrant workers as the Other with a different cultural background. Such a mission avoids inflicting violence against the Other. According to Levinas, a well-known philosopher in this subject, migrant workers as the Other are the ones who have an absolute alterity, appealing with their faces, helping us to establish self-subjectivity and realize our ethical responsibility. Missional applications that are based on this concept of the Other are following. Firstly, the migrant mission should avoid identifying (assimilating) others with selfunderstanding, because the Other is the person with absolute alterity. The Other cannot be incorporated into self's boundary Secondly, the Other appeals us by appearing in their face therefore the mission should be the response to the appealing. Thirdly, the aim of the mission should be self-ethical maturity in relation to the Other, and in the process, selfishness and selfindulgence is avoided. Lastly, the mission responsibility is to practice hospitality to the Other. Through such mission based on the understanding the Other, one can hope that more migrant workers respond to the Gospel and the Korean church commits to the mission among the migrant workers.

국내 이주근로자 선교는 타문화권 배경으로 한국 사회에서 타자로 살아가는 이주근로자에 대한 이해가 필요하고, 그 이해에 근거한 선교로 이루어져야 할 것이다. 타자 이해에 근거한 선교는 동일화를 강요하는 제국 주의 선교를 지양하게 만들고, 복음 수용자를 진정으로 고려한 선교가 되 게 한다. 타자 연구에 대표적인 학자인 레비나스(Emmanuel Levinas)의 타자 철학에 따르면, 이주근로자는 절대적 타자성을 소유한 타자, 얼굴의 현현으로 호소하는 타자, 자아의 주체성을 바르게 세우는 타자 그리고 자 아의 윤리적 책임을 일깨우는 타자이다. 이런 이주근로자에 대한 이해를 선교에 적용할 때, 다음과 같은 적용점이 도출된다. 타자는 자아의 범위 내 에 구속될 수 없는 절대적 타자성을 소유한 자이기에 자아와의 동일화를 강요하는 선교는 지양되어야 하고, 그들은 현현 자체로 우리에게 호소하는 자이기에 그 호소에 응답하는 선교로 나아가야 한다. 그리고 그들의 존재 가 우리의 이기주의와 방종을 제한하여 바른 주체성을 가지도록 돕는 자이 기에, 그들로 인해 또한 그들과 함께 윤리적 성숙을 이루어가는 선교를 지 향한다. 마지막으로 그들에게 따뜻한 마음의 표현과 공공성을 창출하는 환 대를 실천함으로 윤리적 책임을 다하는 선교를 한다. 이로써 한국 교회는 진정한 타자 이해에 중점을 두는 선교에 임하고, 그 결과로 더 많은 이주근 로자들이 복음에 반응하기를 기대한다.
