This paper examines the relationship between the negativity and the primeval forest that appeared in Park In-hwan's poetry in terms of the poet's desire to write poetry and the place of the poetic subject. As an open text, the territory of Park In-hwan's poetry does not have a fixed boundary, so there seems to be ample room for reconsideration on the relationship between poet Park In-hwan's poetry writing as a negativity and the primeval forest as a place of poetic subject. In Park In-hwan's poetry, the “dense primeval forest” and the “city primeval forest” in Inje, Gangwon-do, are neither metaphorical nor metamorphic. The two are separated by an absolute distance that cannot be compared to any verbal rhetoric and cannot be overcome. Poet Park In-hwan, who leaves his hometown and exists in reality as negativity, is constantly walking through the poetic subject embodied in the poem text toward the “primitive forest of poetry.”

본고는 박인환 시에 나타난 부정성과 원시림의 관계를 시를 쓰는 시인의 욕망과 시적 주체의 장소성을 연관지어 살펴보았다. 박인환 시 쓰기의 욕망은 주어진 현실 세계를 허무주주의적 부정성으로 시 텍스트에 투영함으로써 시적 주체의 원시림을 지향하는 것이다. 박인환 시에서 그의 고향인 강원도 인제의 ‘울창한 원시림’과 시적 주체를 통해 지향하는 ‘시의 원시림’은 은유적 관계도 환유적 관계도 아니다. 둘 사이는 그 어떤 언어적 수사로도 비유될 수 없고 극복될 수 없는 절대적인 거리로 떨어져 있다. 이 거리는 고향을 떠나 현실에 실존하는 시인 박인환이 시 텍스트에 형상화된 시적 주체와 함께 끊임없이 움직여 ‘시의 원시림’을 향해 움직이며 만들어 낸 것이다. 박인환의 시 쓰기는 부정성으로서의 현실 세계와 시 읽기를 통해 열리는 시적 주체의 원시림―‘그 림자 없는 시적 공동체’의 역설적인 양립을 욕망하였고 중단 없이 실천하였다.
