The purpose of this paper is to reveal the locational characteristics of Wonju, Gangwon-do, focusing on ｢Gwandongrok｣ included in volume 7 of Dongju Lee Min-gu’s collection of works Dongjujip. To this end, his literary life was examined, Lee Min-gu's visit to Gangwon-do and his recor ds were reviewed, and the meaning of the place called Wonju, as thought by Lee Min-gu, was explored through the poems in ｢Gwandongrok｣. Dongju Lee Min-gu was a promising talent from a young age, but the government positions he received in his early years were not flashy. With the Injo Restoration as an opportunity, he gained his father's reputation and the trust of King Injo, and was promoted to major positions in the government at a young age. ｢Gwandongrok｣ was written during his seco nd visit to Gangwon-do. He became the governor of Gangwon-do in 163 5 and stayed there for about 10 months. In the poems he wrote while staying in Wonju, Wonju is described as a place where one can feel a ‘closed’ inspiration, while Wonju was also a ‘main source’ that made Lee Min-gu realize his responsibilities as a prince.

본고의 목적은 동주 이민구의 문집 『동주집』 전집 권 7에 수록된 ｢관동록｣ 을 중심으로, 강원도 원주의 장소적 특징을 밝히는 데 있다. 이를 위해 그의 문학적 생애를 살펴보고, 이민구의 강원도 방문과 그 기록의 개관하였으며, ｢관동록｣에 나타난 시를 통해 이민구가 생각하는 원주라는 장소의 의미를 천착하였다. 동주 이민구는 어려서부터 촉망받는 인재였는데, 초년에 받았던 관직은 화려 하지 않았다. 인조반정을 계기로 부친의 후광과 인조의 신임을 얻어 젊은 나이 에 조정의 주요 내직을 전전하였다. ｢관동록｣은 그가 두 번째 강원도를 방문했 을 때 지은 것으로, 1635년 강원도 관찰사가 되어 10개월 남짓 머물며 지은 것이다. 원주에 체류하며 지은 시 속에서 원주는 ‘閑曠’한 감흥을 느끼는 장소 로 묘사되는가 하면, 원주는 이민구에게 방백으로서 책무를 깨닫게 하는 ‘任所’ 이기도 하였다.
