Since the 2000s, the retirement population has been continuously increasing along with the increase in the elderly population, so helping them to successfully adapt to retirement is an important task in our society. To this end, an in-depth understanding of retirees should be preceded, but existing studies have many negative perceptions of retirement adaptation and only show one aspect of retirement adjustment, which limits profound understanding of retirement adaptation. Therefore, this study conducted a qualitative meta-analysis on the subject of retirement adaptation to gain a comprehensive understanding of retirees' retirement adaptation. For this purpose, we selected 20 domestic journal papers that conducted qualitative research on retirement adjustment, and used Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory to categorize causal conditions, contextual conditions, central phenomena, interventional conditions, action-interaction strategies, and outcomes in order. The results of the study were derived through the process of attaching appropriate category names for each analysis unit, and finally, the retirement adjustment process consists of ‘retirement events’, ‘confusion due to retirement’, ‘coping’, and ‘retirement adaptation’ stages in the order of time, Finally, based on this results, discussions and implications were suggested.

2000년대 이후 노인인구 증가와 함께 은퇴인구도 지속적으로 증가하고 있어 이들의 성공적인 은퇴 적응을 위해 돕는 것이 우리 사회의 중요한 과업이다. 이를 위해 은퇴자에 대한 깊이 있는 이해가 선행 되어야 하나, 기존 선행연구에서는 은퇴적응에 대한 부정적인 인식이 많고 은퇴적응에 대한 한 단면만 을 보여주어 은퇴적응을 깊이 이해하는데 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 은퇴적응을 주제로 질적 메타분석을 실시함으로써 은퇴자의 은퇴적응에 대해 종합적인 이해를 하고자 한다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 은퇴적응을 주제로 질 적 연구를 수행한 국내 학술지 논문 20편을 선정하였으며, Strauss와 Corbin의 근거이론 방법을 사용하 여 인과적 조건, 맥락적 조건, 중심현상, 중재적 조건, 작용-상호작용 전략, 결과 순으로 범주화하였다. 이렇게 분류된 개념을 분석단위별로 적합한 범주명칭을 붙이는 과정을 통해 연구결과를 도출하였으며, 최종적으로 은퇴적응과정은 시간순서에 따라 은퇴사건, 은퇴로 인한 혼란, 대처, 은퇴적응 단계 순으로 도출되었다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과에 기초하여 논의와 시사점을 제언하였다.
